To Heather or Not to Heather

Selene's POV
"Looks like you're all healed up. Just take it easy on those tight turns," I told Ares.(If you forgot, Ares is the scarred Deadly Nadder from the Edge of Disaster arc). "Thank you. I've been trying to make my maneuverability better, just in case," the Nadder squawked at me. I just chuckled and scratched under his chin. "I get it. But be more careful, please?" I asked him and he nodded his head. "Hey, sis!" I turned around and saw Lillian running up to me. "What is it?" I asked her. She was about to speak, but Ares ran over and nuzzled into her. "Hey, boy. It's good to see you too. Can I talk with my sister, please?" She asked and Ares licked her head then ran off. "Anyway, what we're you going to say?" I asked my sister. "Just follow me to the clubhouse," she told me. Sandstorm and Crystal ran over, allowing us to climb on. Once we arrived at the clubhouse, I saw dozens upon dozens of letters, and the gang was reading them. "What did I miss?" I asked them. Everyone looked up at me, "apparently, Fishface here knew where Heather was and has been talking to her through Terror Mail." Snotlout grumbled and returned to the letter in his hand. "Why didn't you tell us, Fishlegs?" I asked the chubby Viking boy. He just shrugged his shoulders. I just sighed and grabbed a letter and began reading it. The gang and I spent the rest of the day reading the Terror Mail and dang, they were depressing! "Uh, wow. This is some depressing Terror Mail. I might need a mace to the head just to cheer me up," Ruff spoke. "On it!" Her twin grabbed a nearby mace and swung it at Ruff's head. Luckily, the girl caught it. "Metaphorically speaking," Ruffnut told her twin. "These letters don't even sound like Heather," I spoke. "Yeah, she seems worried and confused," Astrid agreed with me. I was leaning against the wall, with Lillian next to me. "Think about everything she's been through. The only family she ever knew, gone. Then being out there alone, all by herself," Fishlegs spoke. "And it doesn't help that Dagur the Lunatic is her brother," Lillian spoke, not using Dagur's actual tittle, and hey, I like her's better.

"Yeah. I can't say that I'd feel any different in her shoes," Hiccup commented. "Shoe. Because you..." Snotlout then gestured to the one leg. "We get it, Snotlout," I told the boy. "Hey, Heather's risked her life to fight with us. She's helped us save countless dragons. She's the closest thing to being one of us. It just seems like we should do something to help," Fishlegs seems really passionate about helping the raven-haired girl. "Well, hey, what about making her one of us? Ask her to be a Dragon Rider," Hiccup spoke and Fishlegs was all for it. The chubby boy mentioned the Deadly Nadder migration that would coming through here any time, but then Tuffnut being Tuffnut, had to say something. "Well, I think it's a terrible idea. An awful, dreadful, unfathomable idea," Tuffnut crossed his arms, and his face held a tight glare. "Very funny. We're trying to have a serious conversation here," Astrid told the bot with an unamused expression. "So am I. Look, you don't just get to be a Dragon Rider. I'm surprised you didn't know that. We've spent the last five years fighting the nastiest, smelliest, most disgusting and often insane dragons out there," Tuff spoke and I couldn't help but be a little hurt. And I saw my sister's expression was crestfallen too. But, nonetheless, we continued to listen. "How many times have we almost gotten killed doing it?" Tuff asked. "There was the Screaming Death, the Whispering Death, the Red Death, and all the other Deaths. And then there was—" Ruffnut was interrupted by Astrid. "We get it, Ruffnut," the girl spoke. "So why does she get to waltz in here, all of a sudden, like she's one of us? Doesn't seem fair to me," Tuff spoke, and that made the feeling even worse. Both Lillian and I 'waltzed' into their little group. "And besides, who said she'd even want to be a Dragon Rider? You know, it's not for everyone. I myself have had moments of doubt," Ruff admitted the last part. "Hm. You know, Tuff's right. About all of it," my lover spoke shocking everyone. "What do you mean?" Lillian asked the one-legged boy. "We'll invite Heather to the Edge. Just for a couple of days. To hang out, see how she's doing. Maybe she helps us redirect those Nadders," my lover spoke as he walked over to Toothless. "But nothing permanent happens without us all agreeing. Sound good?" Hiccup asked and everyone nodded. I still couldn't help but think about what Tuffnut said. "So, did my sister and I just 'waltz' in, huh?" Lillian asked with anger in her voice. "What do you mean, Lills?" Astrid asked the girl, using the nickname she came up with. "Well, I basically just walked in and not to mention the fact that my sister also just appeared as well. So what, are we just extra firepower for you guys?" Lillian asked. Ok, learned something new about my sister. She gets angered very easily if she feels offended. "No offense, guys. But what Tuffnut said makes sense. We never really faced the Red Death. I only helped with the little stuff. D-did you really only keep us around because of our heritage?" I asked and put my hands on my arms. "Of course not," Hiccup spoke and he walked over to me and hugged me tightly. I saw Astrid was hugging Lillian. "You two have been through more than any of us. Selene, you lost your family. Lillian, you to separated from your parents. We didn't let you guys in because of your heritage or your abilities, but because we care about you both so much! And we promised each other we'd find your parents," Hiccup told me.
