Loosely based off the Disney short called 'Feast' if you haven't seen it, go watch it. It's absolutely adorable.

There was a short time in Kyle's life where he felt lost. Highschool was right around the corner, and everyone seemed to have their lives planned out. Kenny, one of Kyle's closest friends, would talk about his future with hopefully a woman he loves. And when he'd ask Kyle about what he wanted in his future wife, Kyle couldn't answer. He'd choke up on his words, and his face would contort into one of confusion. He felt like a dog in a cage, trapped, waiting for someone to let him out.

And he did. He waited. Waited for someone to let him out of that godforsaken cage. There were times where the cage would be opened by someone. A girl, who would look at Kyle with a smile that slowly turned into a frown, and just like that she'd close the cage because she knew he would never come out of it for her.

He'd thought that maybe something was wrong with him. How many girls would it take for him to realize what said thing was wrong?

Except it didn't take anymore girls for him to find out, no. All it took was one boy. He'd opened that cage and seen Kyle's frown, and tried his best to make it go away. Slowly, Kyle got more comfortable, and he'd learned and loved enough to finally let himself out of that cage.

The cage was his heart, and the person who opened it up for him was Stan Marsh. Stan was the person holding the right key for Kyle's cage. The one Kyle could truly be himself around, the one Kyle loved.

"Aw, what a handsome boy!" The voice of a teenage boy around Kyle's age cut him out of his thoughts. Kyle must've been too preoccupied with his own thoughts to even register where he was.

Right, at the dog shelter, for Stan's birthday.

"He's sweet, too!" Stan decided, turning around to face Kyle. Stan was kneeling in front of a dog cage, a brown doberman with sweet chocolate eyes staring at Stan lovingly behind the shelter bars. It reminded Kyle too much of himself.

Kyle stood, staring down at the kneeling boy before him. He gave a genuine smile, and spoke. "Then he might just be the one, huh?"

"I think he is," Stan trailed off, his head slowly turning back towards the dog. Stan looked like a kid, the way his eyes twinkled with a mixture of adoration and excitement, the way his hands wrapped around the bars of the dog's cage.

The dog walked forward, licking Stan's hand through the metal bars. Stan laughed, then quickly pulled his hand away with a gasp. Kyle gave a look of confusion, one that Stan didn't see. "You shocked me!" Stan exclaimed, talking directly to the dog and not Kyle.

The dog tilted his head, his ears sagging in worry that he'd just hurt the nicest human he's ever met. "Don't worry boy," Stan immediately said, sensing the dogs worries. Kyle had always made fun of Stan for being such an animal whisperer, but actually seeing it in person was surprisingly quite mesmerizing. "You just made a couple sparks, that's all."
