Chapter 9
I stood in front of the large mirror, adjusting the straps of my vibrant red dress, my heart pounding with a mix of excitement and nerves.
The room was filled with the click of cameras and the bustling energy of the crew, each person diligently working to capture the perfect shot. I glanced at the photographer, who gave me an encouraging nod.
Actually 10am yung call time namin pero 12noon na kami nag start dahil natagalan talaga sa pag make-up sakin yung make-up artist ko. I wanted to make it look natural kasi lalo sa mga photoshoot ko. Ayoko ng palpak, I want my looks to be fabulous yet natural.
As the camera flashed, freezing each pose in time, I could already imagine the stunning images that would come out of this shoot. I felt confident and beautiful. I'm giving my best sa bawat pag capture ng camera sa akin.
However, amidst the excitement, I know that someone was disappointed that I couldn't make it to her grand opening.
I know my sister Gianni was really disappointed, although, I didn't make a promise, pero sinabi ko dito na itatry ko naman sumunod, the thing is, late na nag start ang photoshoot.
At ngayon ay halos 4pm na rin. Ilang sets din kasi tong photoshoot namin ngayon. Plus, may ilang newbie model rin akong kasama.
Malapit na rin naman matapos, pero sobrang late na rin ako sa opening. The opening started few hours ago. Hindi na rin talaga makakahabol. Hahabol nalang talaga ako sa mini celebration later.
Nang matapos na ang huling set ng photoshoot ay nakahinga ako ng maluwag.
Taking a deep breath, I excused myself from the set, finding a quieter corner where I could call my sister.
Naka ilang ring lang ng sagutin nito ang tawag.
"Hello?" pero iba naman ang nasa kabilang linya, It's not my sister, pero the voice is really familiar. I think, si Adriana ito.
"Uhm, where's my sister?" I responded. I didn't expect that I have to talk to this girl.
"She's really busy entertaining customers. She was actually waiting for you."
"Love, who's that?" narining kong tanong ng kapatid ko sa kabilang linya. Naguilty ako ng malaman ko na she was waiting for me. I know dad is present as well, ako lang kulang.
Nalulungkot ako na namiss ko yung opening. Pero wala naman akong magagawa kasi kailangan kong unahin 'tong photoshoot ko. At the same time, medyo naguilty ako kasi I missed an important event.
Hindi man kami ganun kaclose pero I know this thing is really important to her.
"It's your sister" sagot naman ni Adriana. Narinig ko na binigay nito ang phone sa kapatid ko.
"Where are you? Akala ko ba susunod ka sa opening?" may himig pagtatampo na tanong nito.
"I'm so sorry, I couldn't make it. I was really busy. But I promise I'll be there for the night celebration.
Gianni's tone softened, understanding evident in her voice. "Okay, I understand. Don't worry, Kayla. Focus on your shoot for now, and we'll see you later."
Relief washed over me, grateful for my sister's understanding. I couldn't help but feel a twinge of regret for missing the opening.
As I ended the call, I took a moment to gather my thoughts and recenter myself. Tinext ko rin si Blair na pumunta mamaya dahil hindi rin ito nakaattend ng opening, she was invited rin naman kaso ayaw nito kapag wala ako.
