He turned away as he never knew me?
He got down from stage.
Probably , he didn't recognize me.
" Vinura , Vinura , Hi"
It seemed like he didn't hear me.
Already two students were practicing on stage for a duet.
Probably , with that sound he didn't hear me. But I already felt , he deliberately ignored me.
He disappeared in to the back stage .
Should I go there ? Is it ok for an outsider to go there?
Anyway I need to speak to him. Uncle Dev is busy with practicing session .
I went behind the hall and waited at the back door . No sign of Vinura .
I spotted a student coming out from a dressing room.
" Hi, can you please give Vinura a message ?? That a visitor is waiting for him?"
" ok, wait here , " that student gave me a second glance " you look familiar , aren't you from our school ?"
" well I .."
" Fawas, what's going on? " A familiar voice interrupted me. Yes, it was him. What a relief .
" hi dude, you have a visitor " Fawas disappeared in to backstage.
Remained there, only two of us , face to face.
Just as I was about to open my mouth to speak, he turned away and tried to leave.
It was now or never.
I quickly grabbed his arm.
" Vinura, please Don't go, listen to me"
He stopped. Turning around getting rid of my hand which was grabbing his arm.
He didn't say a word.
" it was a wonderful performance by your group "
"hmm"
We were silent for a few seconds .
" if thats all, i' ll leave " he was about to go again ..
" No. No. No. ,
listen Venura, Im sorry " I nearly screamed.
He watched me, hard to tell what's in his eyes.
" It' s been four months ". I finally heard his voice .
" I know . Its my fault . Im sorry .. Really , really sorry " my voice was breaking .
" I should have called you , I know .., I' m sorry "
I was sure my eyes are glistening already .
Vinura stayed unmoved. Like a statue.
Well, if you act like that, it's time to use some of my irresistible charms.
I tried to generate more tears, can i make one or two roll down my cheeks too? And I used my most innocent puppy eyes look too, gazing at him desperately . A little drop of tear found a way across my cheeks.
His eyes suddenly had this unsettling look.
" Are you crying.? No. Don't cry. ". He finally said . Voice softened.
" Eh... I really can't afford any distraction , I need my concentration for contest " he added . Pretending to be tougher.
" So are we ok?? You forgive me??"
" But don't do same mistakes twice. "
" No. no. Never , thank you thank you vinura ..". What a relief .
Damn!! This guy knows how to hold a grudge .
Usually , when I do some mistake and say sorry to Menul , he would apologize me easily .
And if I showed him my teary puppy eyes I'm sure Menul would hug me.
But this guy.. So heartless .
But somehow I sensed that , probably he is not as tough as he wanted to act ..
Anyway , it was my fault to begin with.
I felt I can't bear seeing him angry with me.
