Static flung himself down the steps, nearly jumping down an entire flight in the hurry he was to reach the bottom.

Time was something not on his side, and not just because of the speed internal clock the former? Hero's body was on because of his injuries, but also due to the timer you had set on him.

'How the hell am I supposed to find something when I don't even know what that something is!'

Flinching slightly as he moved on to a next flight, Static ignored the pain in his midsection.

'They're manufacturing Bang-Babies, or Metahumans, but we don't know how. We don't even know if that's all that's all they're doing so WHAT AM I EVEN LOOKING FOR?'

Seeing a faint shadow approaching the platform that the flight below him led to, Static stopped himself from continuing his rush down the stairs.

Straightening his posture, Static held his suitcase like a professional before stoically continuing his descent down the stairs.

Another guard was hurried coming up, but he stopped right before he passed Static, who tried his best to look intimidating.

"Name" Was all the man in a suit said, his tone serious.

"What?" Static replied, his voice confused.

Then, to Static's shock, the man pulled out a gun.

Instantly upon seeing the weapon, Static's fist shot downwards, but the man moved his head and body to the slide slightly, avoiding the hit.

Due to Static's position on the stairs, his momentum that had nowhere to go, and his injuries, this sequence resulted in the former? Hero falling forwards, taking the guard with them and causing the both of them to tumble down the stairs.

Static felt a wave of shock wash over him as multiple gunshots were let out in the whirlwind that followed, and he realized he had been hit directly in the vest, which thankfully shielded the fatality of it.

Hitting the platform in between the flights of stairs, the man let out a groan before realizing his situation, and hurriedly tried to make it back to his feet.

"You're good, sit back down" A voice said, and the hand attached to the voice pressed up against the still getting up guard's mid-section.

A wave of electricity followed that, and at the burst of energy the man shook, falling to his knees.

Static winced, looking down the flight where the man came from to make sure no more security were coming up.

'What was that? Why'd he pull a gun on me?'

Breathing heavily, Static put a hand against a wall to catch his breath, favouring his body which had only been more injured due to the fall.

'Did I do anything wrong? I acted in character so why'- A faint rustle behind the former? Hero caused his thoughts to stop.

Two shots went off, and before the second one did Static erected a barrier of blue between him and the formerly unconscious guard.

Slipping underneath the outstretched arms of the guard who was holding the gun from before, Static using his naturally enhanced strength alone delivered an uppercut directly to the chin, knocking the lackey out.

He stared for a few moments to make sure the man was properly unconscious this time, which he was.

Then, slowly, Static brought a hand to his right arm, and when he retrieved it he found blood on his fingertips.

The former? Hero had been shot in the arm, and for a moment he stared at the blood in shock before the pain settled in.

Forcing himself to ignore it and the pain from the fall, Static suppressed his reaction to a wince.
