It was surprisingly casual.
Donning the mask Hugo had given you as well as a hoodie, you were walking through the open streets of the Yellow Zone. You were on your own right now since Static was taking another path.
Well, it couldn't exactly be called a path since you didn't know where you were going. Right now you were just following the crowd.
At some time in the afternoon, many people both wearing clothing to hide their identities and even casual citizens began to walk in a certain direction. It was as if a light turned on in Gotham, attracting a portion of their citizens.
No one spoke or said it out loud, but it was obvious. The location of Bane's Tournament had been leaked, and like a swarm you were all being pulled in. Anyone outside looking in would call it a phenomenon of sorts.
But it was simply Gotham.
You followed without causing a scene. The walk so far had taken about fifteen minutes of your time and you doubted it would be over soon. To your surprise, you all were steering away from the Black Zone.
Most likely too dangerous given the fact a tournament needed an audience that wasn't participating.Following the crowd, you took note that you had stepped over a cracked, spray-painted line that ran across the sidewalk, the street, and through the other sidewalk. The horde you were apart of had crossed into the Red Zone.
What shocked you most was the lack of fighting. It was the Gotham City during an all time crisis, and people were obviously on edge given how quickly a fight had absolutely erupted in that bar in the Yellow Zone. But there was none of that here.
It pissed you off how everyone had unanimously called a truce on this night. Although, it was better this way. If your mask ever came off, maybe they wouldn't immediately break Bane's law to take a piece of you.
Your train of thought stopped as you passed a nearby alleyway, one that was quite large. The memory of how everything started in this world nearly made you back out, but you decided to get a closer look at what you saw.
On one of the walls, filling in cracked brick, slightly smeared, and also partially being covered by a trash bin was you.
It was a mural.
It was you but more abstract, the creator most likely picking up whatever they could from the blurry security footage there was of you killing the Joker. Covering your face and slightly beyond that we're the words "SAVE US" which was coloured boldly.
'Guess they got the wrong idea after I killed Jack' Scoffing slightly, your eyes lingered on the art.
A few emotions ran across your face as you stared at it, your expressions flickering. By the end you were impassive, although your foot was lightly tapping the ground.
Looking down at the action, you grunted in frustration. 'I'm getting sloppy. Physically I feel like I'm getting better since I've been in so many life or death situations, but I'm letting my guard down mentally. Damn'
Looking back up at the mural one more time, you went back out to the crowd and were washed away by the wave of citizens.
The crowd continued down, and through a building. As your part of the makeshift line approached the building, you noted that it was a movie theatre. You were sure there was some irony there but you didn't care to think about it too long.
Approaching the ticket booth, when it was finally your turn you tried to look into it to see who it was. The glass was one-way though, and the only hole in it was near whoever was behind there's hands.
