As Emma entered the café, her favorite spot in the city, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment. Y/N, the barista she had given her number to the day before, hadn’t reached out. But then the warmth and aroma of freshly brewed coffee enveloped her, in a relaxing way. Y/N, busy behind the counter, caught Emma’s eye, and their gazes locked for a moment. The barista gave a subtle smile before returning to her duties.

However, Emma didn’t let the initial disappointment linger as she settled into a familiar corner with her coffee. She had just opened a book when her phone buzzed. A message from Y/N illuminated the screen, and a surge of excitement rushed through Emma.

„Hey, sorry for not texting sooner. It’s been a hectic morning here. Would you be up for meeting later? I get off work in an hour.“

A smile stretched across Emma’s face as she quickly replied, „Absolutely! I’ll be here waiting. Looking forward to it.“

With renewed enthusiasm, Emma decided to wait outside the café as her anticipation grew. When Y/N finally emerged, she greeted Emma with a warm smile, instantly melting away any traces of doubt. Y/N reciprocated with a quick hug.

„Hey! Sorry about not texting you earlier. It gets crazy in there,“ Y/N explained, a hint of apology in her voice.

„No need to apologize. I understand,“ Emma assured her, feeling a sense of relief that washed away the uncertainty.

As Emma shivered in the chilly night air, Y/N noticed her discomfort. Without hesitation, Y/N unzipped her jacket and draped it over Emma’s shoulders.

„You look freezing. Take this. But watch out for any hidden coffee stains,“ Y/N teased, her eyes sparkling with warmth.

Emma, touched by the gesture, slipped into the jacket, the scent of coffee mingling with the fabric and blushed a bit.

As they walked through the city, the chilly air adding a crisp note to their conversation, Emma and Y/N found themselves naturally delving into their personal stories. The city lights reflected in Emma’s eyes as she shared anecdotes from her life as a well-known actress.

Y/N listened with genuine interest, interjecting with laughter or thoughtful comments. The rhythm of their conversation created a comforting cadence, like an unspoken understanding developing between them.

Emma, usually surrounded by the glitz and glam of the entertainment world, appreciated the simplicity of Y/N’s life. Y/N, a barista with a passion for simple joys, found Emma’s tales of film sets and premieres fascinating.

„So, what made you choose being a barista?“ Emma asked, genuinely curious.

Y/N smiled, her breath visible in the crisp air. „I love the connection with people, the everyday stories you get to hear. It’s a break from the chaos of the world, you know?“

Emma nodded, understanding the sentiment. „It must be refreshing.“

Y/N glanced at the actress. „And you? What’s it like being a famous actress?“

Emma sighed, her breath creating a mist in the cool night air. „It has ist moments, for sure. But sometimes, I miss the simplicity of life, like what you have.“

Y/N chuckled. „The grass is always greener, right?“

As they continued walking, their words flowed effortlessly, weaving a tapestry of shared experiences and newfound connection. The city, with ist distant hum and twinkling lights, served as a backdrop to the unfolding story of Emma and Y/N, each step bringing them closer to a connection that felt remarkably authentic and promising.

Emma, feeling a surge of courage, leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on Y/N’s cheek. Blushing deeply, she stammered a brief goodbye, retreating into her house. The door closed behind her, leaving Y/N on the doorstep, a smile playing on her lips as she contemplated the sweet, unexpected kiss that lingered in the frosty night air.

Closing the door behind her, Emma lingered in the warmth of her home. Clutching Y/N’s jacket around her, she couldn’t help but smile. The scent of coffee and the lingering traces of the barista enveloped her. She leaned against the door, her heart fluttering with newfound feelings. Snuggling into the jacket, Emma sighed contently, cherishing the lingering connection as she anticipated the possibilities that had just unfolded.
