There was a moment today where I
missed you
I remembered your sweet eyes that
could bloom affection
But also hold deep oceans of hidden
truths
I remembered that look on your face
Like you wanted me to choose you
As if you were just one of my options
And then that laugh
Like you weren't in pain because of me
Then I remembered being in love
with you like I used to
As though you were the first time I
had ever gave myself away to
someone I truly loved
I remembered being special to you
Being someone you loved
In that brief flickering moment where
I missed you
My heart felt like it was whole again
In that flickering moment
It hurt to be away from you
It hurt to remember why it was
important to stay in the distance from
you
It hurt to think you weren't God's
choice for me
In that moment where there was you
Me
And longing and sadness and
Acceptance
It felt like I was holding the weight of
the world again
