Their Unrequited Love

Prologue

She stared at the dark sky with lots of emotions in her eyes. She tried, tried hard to forget him. But at the end, she got tired in the process of trying to forget him. She questioned herself many times: Out of all the men, why him? Why did she fall for him so hard? So hard that her thoughts always revolve around him every second. She didn't bother to wipe her tears off, which were flowing continuously from her eyes. Her heart hurt every moment when she thought about him loving her cousin, yet she couldn't stop loving him.
 
"I'm not able to control my anger while talking to you. I'm not able to stop my tears after talking to you, and mostly, I'm not able to stop my heart from loving you. Why am I not able to forget you, Surya? Why did I fall in love with you in the first place? Why? Why aren't you able to see the love that I have for you in my eyes? Why?" Sravya said, looking at the twinkling stars in the dark sky.

He lied on the bed, staring at the ceiling blankly. It's been a year since he talked to her last. His best friend and his first love. His Mia. He knew she could never be his, yet he couldn't help but fall for her. He knows that there is no hope that she will fall in love with him one day, yet it didn't stop him from loving her. He couldn't help but dream that she was his every day, even after knowing that it would forever be a dream.
 
He took the photo frame that was on the nightstand. It's a picture of his and hers with their other two best friends, which was taken on their graduation day. She had cried buckets on that day. Only he knew how much his heart had hurt seeing her like that. A few tears escaped his eyes while thinking about her.
 
"I wish I could stop loving you, Mia," Surya said, admiring her smiling face in the picture.

Sravya tilted her head and looked at Surya, who was standing in front of her with a Mangalsutra in his hands.
 
"I wish I could run away from here," thought Sravya, sitting on the mandap, decked up as a bride.
 
She took a deep breath when her eyes fell on the little soul who was in her mother's arms.
 
She closed her eyes and thought, "This is only for you, baby."
 
Surya held the mangalsutra with shivering hands. He never, in his dreams, thought that his life would turn out like this and end up marrying the woman whom he rejected once.
 
"You are being a hypocrite, Sunny!"
 
"You don't have any right to insult her feelings."
 
"Just give this marriage a chance!"
 
He remembered her words and took a deep breath. He looked into her eyes, which were already pooled with tears.
 
"I promise, I'll give my best in this marriage," Surya thought as he tied the Mangalsutra around her neck.
 
He kissed her forehead while she held the Mangalsutra tightly in her fist and thought, "Don't make it difficult for me."

Sravya never thought that she would marry him, especially after getting rejected by him in the past.
 
Surya never thought that he would fall in love again, and that too with her.
 
But, as we say, life is unpredictable. Destiny has played its game.
 
A little soul entered into their lives and tied them forever.
