Chapter 28 ║ The Best Keeper

Ugh!!! I've been here 4 years but I still get lost in the corridors.

I checked the time in my good old butterfly watch. Shit. It's almost time for potions.

I rushed down the corridors when I bumped into someone.

"Nyx, don't you have a class to attend?"

Mom?!?!? Dad?!?!?

"I do, I just got lost...what are you guys doing here?"

"Oh, we had some work, you'll know soon." Dad said.

"Well, don't miss out your class, go!" Mum said.

Oh yeah!! I'm late..

I started rushing again, "don't fall!" I heard mum's voice.

I was breathing like crazy when I reached the class.

"Miss Maeve. You are late." Professor said in his same old boring tone.

"I'm sorry, I got lost in the corridors."

"Get in and take your seat." He said.

I rushed in quickly and took a seat next to Draco.

It went boring. I usually like potions class, but today, professor decided to just talk about herbs. Nobody likes it... except Neville.

Jake came late to the dinner table,
"Why are you so late, thought your project was completed." Rune said.

"Yeah, it was. But Dumbledore called me." He said.

"What for?" I asked.

"You'll know soon." He smirked while stuffing his plate.

Weird. I thought.

"Oh, did you guys know mum and dad came here?" I remembered.

"What? Really?"
"What for?"

Sereia and Rune said together.

"Yeah. I bumped into them in the corridors. But I didn't talk much cuz was getting late to class."

"What would they be here for?" Rune questions himself.

After the dinner, all of us were laughing and chatting while going back to the dormitories.

Jake was at last just listening everyone, so I excused myself and reached him.

"Hey, why were you super late at the dinner? Is it something to do with my parents coming?"

"How would you know that?" He turned.

"So it is about that." I smirked not looking at him and continuing to walk.

He just chuckled and came back to my pace.

We entered the common room just to see mum and dad were still here.

"Mum! Dad!" I went rushing to their arms, as I didn't get the chance earlier.

"What are you guys doing here?" I asked pulling apart.

"Well, Jacob? Are you ready to go?" My dad asked.

Everyone turned to him with a questioning look.

"Umm-" Jake looked around "yes, I just need to pack a few more things before leaving."

"Pack? What for?" Rune asked.

"Well, the Ballycastle Bats is in need of a Keeper, as the previous one has retired. And that job was given to Cal. So he decided to choose the best Keeper at Hogwarts. And so, he chose Jacob." Mum said smiling.

"Ha' best Keeper at Hogwarts." Sereia wheezed.

"Well, how long will he be with you guys?" I asked.

"Well, he will be trained by me. So he will be staying at our house for a week. And he will be with us in the break." Dad said.

"Okay! Without wasting anymore time, Jacob, go and pack whatever you have to. We will be leaving tonight." Mum said before anybody could say anything else.

Everyone parted their ways.

Mum and dad said they will be waiting for him at the main gates.

I, as always, left to see Marina.

After talking to her for a while, she sensed something.

"Someone's coming!" She said as she went underwater.

I turned around to see Jake coming.

"What are you doing here all alone?" He asked.

"I like to think here. It's peaceful." I said standing up from OUR log.

"Oh yeah? What are you thinking about?" He asked smiling as he reached me and put his arms around my neck with his thumbs on my cheeks.

I leaned in and hugging him with my face looking at his, resting my head on his chest, saying, "Nothing, just... I don't know?"

He chuckled and kissed me. Not a peck but a beautiful long kiss.

Merlin, I love this man!!!

"I won't say 'I'll miss you' cuz I've regretted saying that. But I'm really happy for you." I said.

He knew exactly what I was talking about.

"Well, I WILL miss you. And anyways, I'm with you for the break, so that's a win win."

"Yeah, I guess."

He smiled and pecked on more time before leaving.
