-Jeff...-Alan stands up, approaching the bed and taking Jeff's hand.
-Alan...-he whispers, trying to bring the room into focus.
-Good thing you woke up-.
-Where...am I?-
-In the hospital-
-...-
-You fainted so I brought you here, they said as soon as you woke up I could take you home-
-Ok...-sits down on the bed.
-What time is it?
-Almost two in the morning-.

The sliding door opens.
-Hello, Jeff. They told me you just woke up, how are you feeling?-the doctor asks.
-Well...how soon can I get out?
-Just long enough for the paperwork to be prepared. Your values seem to be summarily fine. These days try not to stress and rest-
-Ok...-
-But I would still like to discuss something with you. Your friend here already knows everything but it is important that you understand it too. The medication you are taking is very harmful to your body. I know that for omega heat is difficult but suppressants are not the solution. The contraindications are too many and very serious. I recommend that you stop taking them immediately. If you want, there are some medications available at the pharmacy that will lessen the odor from omegas, but stopping the heat could have serious repercussions on fertility and much more. Jeff, what I'm trying to say is that there are other solutions, without having to deny who you really are-
-How do you know that?- was all he cared about.
-I saw those medicines in the cabinet and thought they were related, so I asked the doctor- Alan replies.
-You had no right!- he pulls away the hand that was still clasped between Alan's. -Can I go now?-he turns to the doctor.
-I'll prepare the papers, in the meantime you can get dressed- and goes out leaving them alone.

Jeff gets out of bed without a word and puts on the clothes resting on the chair, without even glancing at Alan.
-Jeff...-
-You said you wouldn't invade my privacy anymore- he yells at him.
His eyes start to get moist and start to burn. He wasn't supposed to cry. No one was supposed to find out he was an omega or even that he was taking those suppressants. Charlie thought he was taking safe medications that only hid the smell-what would he say if he found out? And now that Alan knows? Would everyone else know too? He didn't want to go back to being a stupid omega. Pretending to be a beta was difficult but at least he could rest easy.
-Jeff, please. I'm just worried about you. The doctor said they are dangerous-
-I don't care, I don't plan to have children in the future, so it's not my problem-
-You don't know if you won't want them in the future. Besides, the damage is not limited to that-
-I don't care. The time I got them was the best time of my life, I don't want to change anything!-
-Best of your life? ....we're at the hospital, Jeff.... because you fainted because of those suppressors. And you call that beautiful? Do you know how worried I was?-
-...-
-If heat is the problem, I can help you. Tell me what you need and I'll go get it for you. I can give you as many days off as you want. I don't mind. But you have to stop taking those suppressants-
-You don't know anything! You don't know what it feels like not to have control of your body! You don't know! And you can't help me- now tears begin to line his cheeks.
-Jeff...- Alan tries to approach him. But Jeff walks out of the room, signs the discharge papers from the hospital and starts walking on the sidewalk beside the road.

-Where are you going now?- Alan chases him.-We're far from your house, it's dangerous, we're in the middle of the night-
-I don't care, I don't want to see you!-
-Jeff, please, I'll drive you home- blocks him, holding him by the arm.
-Let go of me!-Jeff reacts instinctively, starting to tremble. Alan quickly lets go of him.
-Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you...-
-You don't know anything...you are an alpha...you can't understand how I feel...-Jeff starts crying, lowering his head and trying to wipe away his tears.
-You're right, I can't understand. But that doesn't mean I can let you ruin your health without doing anything- he moves closer- let me understand, Jeff- he holds him in his arms.
At that moment the omega bursts into a thunderous cry and surrenders to Alan's embrace as he holds him tighter.
-I'll take you home, okay?-
Jeff simply nods.

Alan accompanies him all the way inside the apartment.
-Where do you keep the suppressors?-
-Why?-
-I want to see you throw them out-
-I never said I was going to stop taking them!
-I thought you agreed to do that instead-
-No I didn't!-
-Jeff...if you want, I'll go get you those meds the doctor recommended to hide the smell. But I won't let you keep taking those suppressants-
-The choice is mine, not yours!-
-You are right, I have no right to meddle in your life, but I am sure you will make the right choice. You don't need to come to work today, just stay home and rest. Think about it. If you decide to stop taking them call me, I want to help you. You can't keep pretending to be someone else- having said that he starts to head for the door.
-Alan...- Jeff feels guilty. The alpha looked sad even though Jeff did not understand why.
-Jeff...- turns around in the doorway- anyway I wanted to tell you, I like your omega smell- he closes the door behind him leaving Jeff to his thoughts.

Jeff couldn't sleep a wink, but he kept tossing and turning in bed. If it hadn't been for Alan getting in the way, he wouldn't have had so much trouble continuing to take those suppressants. He didn't care about the contraindications. But now...he didn't want to let him down. And that was stupid because he had promised himself to do things for himself regardless of what others wanted.

But now...he didn't know what to do.
