I've liked Ada Smith for as long as I can remember.

Though it took me years to come to terms with that. Not because Ada is a bad person. It's because she is the most exquisite young woman I have come to know.

I remember when we first met. That story isn't as interesting. It's the classic, "Hey we're neighbors. Let's be friends." Though it's nothing special to most, it's the day that changed my life forever. Because I met her.

From the moment we became friends, Ada had this effortless way of captivating my attention. It wasn't just her kindness or her laughter; it was the subtle details that made her unique.

Ada Faye, as I playfully started calling her, became the melody to my ordinary days. Her presence added color to the mundane, and her name echoed in my mind like a sweet refrain.

As time passed, my feelings evolved, deepening into a profound love that I struggled to comprehend initially. Ada Smith, with her simple grace, had become the center of my world, and I found myself navigating the delicate dance of emotions that only love could choreograph. My life is better because she is in it.

I didn't plan on acting on my feelings until it was guaranteed that she felt the same way. Things changed as we grew older. I remember the day I saved her from Billy Andrews, though I personally believe she could've taken him.

Watching him push her down and insulted her made me realize that I might have some underlying anger issues that are released when it has anything to do with Ada. Her puzzled look was priceless. But when I yelled, "Any dragons around here need slaying?!" her shy attitude as she brushed me off melted my heart.

She always puts other's needs above her own. Unless they request something absolutely ridiculous. Like when she gave me the silent treatment to spare Ruby's feelings. And when she slammed that slate over my head— that hurt. But it changed nothing. I was still infatuated with her. Even after she gave me that hard glare when I made fun of her pajamas.

There are many moments I can recall when she truly scared me. Like when she went into the Gillis's burning home, and then nearly killed Ruby the next day for dumping hot broth on her.

She would never admit how smart she is. I was determined to beat her in the spelling bee. But the second, I saw her focused look, as her eyebrows drew together, and her nose scrunched up as she spelt engagement. I knew it was over for me the second Mr. Phillips gave me my word. Alluring, which to me is spelled A-D-A. Her rosy cheeks and wide eyes still make me laugh when I recall the memory. Especially when she ran away from me.

The snow was crunching loud as I ran towards her on our path, home, "Real cheeky what you did back there, Blythe." She called out, keeping her gaze on the path.

"What ever do you mean?" I asked as I caught up to her.

"A-L-L-U-R-I-N-G. Alluring, an adjective used to describe someone you find powerful and mysteriously fascinating. Now I don't know what you were trying to spell but it definitely wasn't alluring." She smirked smugly as she avoided my gaze.

"Agree to disagree." I retorted, flashing a grin her way.

Her face flushes and she rolls her eyes. "Boys like you are ridiculous."

"So are girls like you." I mumbled.

"At least we know how to spell." She teased.
