He catches you crying

Steve:
You just got a call that your best friend just died in a biking accident. You were shocked. You have known her since preschool and she was always there for you. Because of college and different jobs you hadn't been able to talk to her for a while. If only you had been there maybe you could've saved her. Tears begin falling on your warm cheeks. Life would never be the same without her.

"(Y/n)? Where are you sweetie? I'm home from the mission!" Steve called from downstairs.

"In our bedroom!" You try to sound happy. As you wipe the tears from your eyes, Steve comes in.

"(Y/n)? Are you okay? Babe, what's wrong?" He rushes to your side wrapping his massive arms around you.

After a few minutes you stopped crying and explained what happened. His eyes were wide and you could see the sadness in his eyes. He told you about Bucky and what happened when you first met, so you knew he could relate.

"I'm so sorry, baby. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere. I promise." He ribs your back and kisses your forehead.

"Thanks, Steve. I love you."

"I love you more."
