Sebastian's smile rivaled that of Lucifer's when he accepted his fate from the Heaven, "You're right. It does happen quite often." He looked down to see her nipples pebbled beneath the nightgown, further proving his theory. He leaned down, right above her collarbone and pressed a teasing, soft kiss against the exposed skin there. "But I don't think it's because you're annoyed with me." He pulled away slightly so that their faces were inches apart and he could see her lips part slightly in surprise, "I think you want me."

"I do," Gracie placed a hand on his chest, almost closing the distance. As she spoke, her lips were so close to brushing his. He couldn't handle it anymore. He needed to kiss-"I want you to fuck off."

With nonverbal magic, she shoved him to the side, causing him to almost lose balance as she walked past him towards the bed. The glare she threw over her shoulder was half hearted, but more troubled than anything. He was glad that he made her anxious. It proved he had the ability to affect her.

"I'll leave the door unlocked shortcake. Feel free to take another cold shower, since it looks like you need it." Sebastian remarked with a cocky smile. Her eyes followed his to see her chest and she hastily got into bed, pulling the covers to her chest. "We do so adore teasing each other, don't we?"

Sebastian snuck away to the bathroom, closing the door with his back as he leaned against it. We do so adore restricted areas, don't we? What was with the parallels? Why did he find himself telling Gracie similar things he'd told her?

He let himself fall to the ground, holding his head. He couldn't fail Gracie too. Rookwood wouldn't harm her unless he decided she was useless to him and Ranrock wouldn't hesitate to murder her in cold blood. Exactly as he did to Charlotte. Sebastian felt the anger burning inside him, becoming an uncontrollable flame.

Good.

Anger was better than regret.

The past wouldn't repeat itself. Gracie had enough pain and suffering to last her a life time. The poor lass didn't even know what love was. She never knew her parents and evidently never dated. He didn't want her to die without knowing what it felt like to be loved.

Sebastian remembered it from his parents. From Anne. From Ominis. His friends.

But what troubled him more was the idea of leaving her after this mission was over and some other wizard showing her what it felt like. His eyebrows drew together.

It felt like his thoughts were becoming scattered. His control was slipping.

I'm letting my emotions get the better of me and I have been for a while. I thought we wanted the same thing. I'm letting my emotions get the better of me and I have been for a while. I thought we wanted the same thing. I'm letting my emotions get the better of me and I have been for a while. I thought we wanted the same thing.

Sebastian's eyes stung for the first time since that night.

When his sister and Charlotte died.

Twenty Three: Interested

Gracie watched the door close with a flustered expression on her face. She scowled, feeling at war with her traitorous body. Sebastian was a temptation she didn't need to explore. If things went wrong... Then this adventure would come to an end. They still had six more creatures to kill. Plus, he was nothing more than a flirt. If love truly existed, then he wouldn't be the right person. He's leave her too after he got what he wanted.
