"You didn't..." Sebastian looked pissed all at once, sending her a promising glare that said she was definitely getting punished tonight.

Gracie smirked and watched as he grabbed her water, bringing it to his lips. He drank a few gulps, looking like he was preparing himself for a lecture. It was only when the glass fell from his grasp and shattered to the ground that worry hit her like a tidal wave.

"God damnit. That's the eighth one." Thomas grumbled angrily, reaching for the broom. He turned to her briefly, "You should grab your husband. It's a sickness going through the town. He's going to be disoriented."

Her eyebrows drew together, "Is the water contaminated? If you know there's a sickness-"

Thomas cut her off with a savage look, "The water isn't contaminated, it's rain water. It's collected outback. And it's not limited to water, it doesn't matter what they drink-it happens randomly. Your husband was fine with his whiskey, was he not?"

With a brief glare, Gracie went to Sebastian's side, touching his arm as he held his head. His pupils were blown, unseeing, and after a few moments... he blinked really fast. He looked down at her with the coldest glare she'd ever seen.

"Let go of me." He snarled and ripped his arm from her, glancing between the barman and her. "Where am I?"

Gracie frowned. Memory problems. The town's most popular tavern. The water. It was collected outback in a receptacle. The wampus drinking from it. The extra layer of ice over its eyes...

The pieces formed a picture, but it was a terrifying one. The creature had been smart. It wasn't drinking from the tank, but it was poisoning it with its own tears. Gracie almost crumbled, knowing the harmful effects Wampus tears had on a person.

It had potent degenerative effects that destroyed memories.

With the way Sebastian was glaring at her like she was filth under his shoe, it was obvious what happened. He'd lost all his memories of her.

"Sebastian, what's the last thing you remember?"

"I have to get back." His voice lowered, recognizing that she was a witch from the wand slightly peeking out of her sleeve, "My closest friend has been captured at Rookwood's castle."

Oh.

He doesn't know her.

He doesn't know about the powerful weapon they'd been tasked to create.

He doesn't know about the adventures they'd had.

He doesn't know he loves her.

He doesn't know he's going to be a father.

Gracie's eyes filled with tears.

He doesn't know.

She had grabbed his sleeve since he didn't want her touching him and dragged him out of the tavern to explain things.

"You little imp," Sebastian pulled his sleeve back, "What business do you-"

Gracie spun on him, pointing to the scorch marks on the ground. "I killed the creature. You ingested water infused with Wampus cat tears. It was poisoning the rain water reserve most of the town drinks from. You weren't affected immediately because you asked for your whiskey without ice."
