Zaid pulled away from the hug but not completely. She was still in his arms. He smiled at her.

Happy birthday.

Zaid wished her, his voice was soft, like a feather.

Tum yahan...

Mubashira trailed off, her hand reached out to caress his cheek. Zaid smiled closing his eyes for a moment feeling a delicate shiver race down his spine. A sigh escaped his lips making Mubashira giggle.

She liked her effect on him. The way his eyes flutter close, the sighs that escape him whenever she touches him gives her bliss. She couldn't help but let out a blushy smile. Her eyes closing in anticipation as she felt him resting his forehead against her. The contact made her breath hitch.

Mujhe neend aa rahi hai.

Zaid spoke opening his eyes, their eyes locked. Mubashira cupped his cheek, her touch loving and tender.

Kya hua???

Mubashira asked, her voice quivered with concern. The warmth in her eyes was replaced by worry.

Her eyes searched his. Zaid shook his head sideways and spoke, his voice filled with amusement

MJ relax I'm fine.

Mubashira was in no mood to listen anything. Her hand which rested over her cheek now moved up to his forehead, touching it gently. Zaid,s breath hitched audibly. Her touches were making him feel goosebumps at the edge of his spine. He felt shivers running down his spine. Zaid took a trembling breath trying to calm himself down.

Kuch nahin hai Mubashira.

Zaid spoke, his voice a mixture of tenderness and warmth.

Toh neend kyun aa rahi hai tumhein?

She asked, her voice trembling, her eyes clouded with worry.

I'm just a little tired bas thoda sona chahata hoon.

Zaid spoke, his voice filled with warmth.

Aao.

Mubashira guided him towards the bed. Zaid followed her blindly, the tender smile never leaving his lips as he continued to look at her.

Zaid laid on the bed, still looking at her. Mubashira looked at him, their eyes locked and she raised her eyebrows at him. Mubashira,s heart quickened it's pace. Zaid raised an eyebrow at her and then shook his head sideways.

Kuch nahin.

Zaid spoke softly. The gentle sleepy haze that was clouding his eyes was making his eyes look more softer. There was an undefinable emotion in his eyes that made her heart hitch in her chest.

She smiled shaking her head sideways hastily, closing her eyes tightly to ignore the shivers she was feeling.

Mubashira.

Zaid called out softly. Mubashira looked at him, her heart skipped a beat as she saw the intense look in his eyes. She couldn't help but smile brightly, her name never sounded this beautiful until this moment.

Ji.

Mubashira whispered looking at him.

Stay.

Zaid said softly moving back and patted the space beside him gently telling her to come.

Zaid main...

Mubashira trailed off, her heart raced in her chest as their eyes locked.

Aa jao tumhare begair neend nahin aati.

Zaid spoke, his voice a mixture of tenderness and sincerity.

Mubashira looked at him, their eyes locked. She felt her heart swell with affection. The world around them seemed to blur into insignificance leaving only the two of them in their own bubble. Her heart skipped a beat.

Kyun?

She asked trying to sound playful but her eyes betrayed the hint of happiness she felt.

Zaid smiled and reached out, his hand cradling her cheek, his touch a mixture of tenderness and an unknown affection as he met her gaze, their eyes locked once again as he confessed a secret that was hidden deep in his heart that he didn't even let himself know.

Kyunke mujhe adat ho gayi hai tumhari.

Zaid confessed, his voice a mixture of sincarity and warmth. It was a secret that he had treasured with extreme care and had kept hidden in the depths of his heart.

Tumhare begair neend nahin aati.

He added, his voice was barely above a whisper but the sincarity was evident.

Mubashira looked at him, a delicate sheen of tears welling up in her eyes. With a mixture of hesitation and sheer joy, Mubashira climbing the bed, her like pounded in her chest like a drum. She gulped and then breathed. Her eyes sparkled with a mixture of love and anticipation of the moment that was about to arrive.

Zaid smiled, his own heart pounding in his chest like a wild drum.

He breathed and then with a mixture of uncertainty and courage, he held the delicate curve of her waist, fingers spreading to cover more of it and pulled her forward. She came flying in his lap.

She looked at him, her heart skipping a beat as a gasp escaped her lips.

Kya? Aise kya dekh rahi ho?

Zaid asked, raising an eyebrow, a mischievous twinkle dancing in his beautiful black orbs and Mubashira,s heart went into a wild dance.

Zaid...

Mubashira trailed off looking at him with wide eyes.

Shohar hoon tumhara.

Zaid said in a matter of fact tone and made Mubashira lay on his chest, just above his heart. Mubashira,s heartbeat quickened and she fisted his shirt, her breath hitched. He kissed the top of her head and Mubashira shivered, her heartbeat stopped for a moment before starting to race like a bullet train.

Sleep.

Zaid said softly and stroked her back gently and Mubashira felt goosebumps travel all over her skin. Mohib never made her feel this way.

She looked at Zaid raising her head up slightly and found him now peacefully sleeping.

The gestures of Zaid was making her fall for him more day by day and she couldn't help but feel her heart overflowing with affection. Her heart felt torn, a part of her wanted to believe in Zaid,s gestures, wanted to believe that he's doing all of this because he wants to and he means them. But the other part of her heart, the cautious and the gaurded one whispered warnings. The cautious and the gaurded one warned her, told her to back off. To not get to attached with him. There was a fear in the deepest corners of her heart, unspoken but pulpable. It was pulling her back, asking her to back off of the attachment she was having with Zaid. In such a short time, he had became a necessary, a habit which she couldn't let go. He was as important to her as breathing, she has became habitual of his tenderness, his caring gestures, their banters. He had became her world. She had embraced him as her own person with open arms.

The cautious and gaurded part of her heart that had been hurt once whispered warnings of becoming too attached, too reliant, pulling her heart at a painful, unwanted resolve. It barked warnings at her that what would happen, how will it feel if his care reduced, how will she feel if his gestures stopped? She shivered at the thought. She couldn't help but think. She was becoming too attached, too reliant, too habituated of his gestures. Now it was something she looked forward too. He had became her safe heaven. She couldn't help but think what will happen if his gestures stopped, if his care reduced, if he stopped looking at her the way he looks at her now? The vulnerability that came with the what ifs made her heartbeat stop and she let out a trembling breath followed by an audible gasp covering her mouth with her palm. Tears welled up in her eyes and fell over Zaid,s shirt.

Mubashira.
