Y/N's POV, June 18th 1983
Recently, I'd been hired as the PA for Doc McGee, and he was the manager for a band named Mötley Crüe, a band who had conquered the Sunset Strip, and were now hoping to conquer America and then the world.
I'd met with them multiple times before now, having been working for Doc for about two months. They were probably my favourite of all the bands Doc managed that I'd met. They weren't afraid to be themselves, and they were chaotic in the best possible way and they'd actually been rather nice to me despite their reputation, and had been respectful towards me which I really did appreciate.
Nikki was someone I really had grew to admire, as a musician and as a person, he was a spectacle to behold and I mean, c'mon the man's gorgeous, you'd have to be blind not to see that but I doubt he'd ever look at me like that. I'll certainly take him as a friend and I'd say I was friends with the guys, it was early days of course but I'd certainly say we were friends. They made friends easily and so did I.
Obviously, as a PA, I had to go everywhere with Doc obviously, and so today there was a recording session for Mötley Crüe's second studio album, Doc was sitting in for the session to make sure the guys actually did some work.
Doc had actually done the courtesy of giving me a lift today, as I'd had to help him with some paperwork this morning. It was an awkward drive as what do you talk about with your boss?
We got there, and I couldn't have escaped quick enough. I held the door to the studio open for Doc, he walked in, handing me his coat and bag as we entered, going straight to the reception desk to sign in.
Doc then took us to the correct studio, me being a few feet behind him. Entering, he clapped loudly making the guys jump, enthusiastically announcing "Get off your asses and work!"
"We are." Nikki replied confused "What does it look like we're doing? We're sat here with guitars for shits and giggles." The bassist then noticed me behind Doc "Morning Y/N."
"Morning, Nikki." I smiled as I placed Doc's coat and bag on the coat hook and walked over to stand beside Doc "Vince, Mick, Tommy."
"Yo." Vince smiled, Tommy grinned at me and Mick nodded in acknowledgment.
Doc hummed unimpressed "Nice you have manners for someone, I'd prefer them to be shown to me but hey-ho. Can't have everything I suppose. Werman, what's the agenda for today?"
The producers turns in his chair, from where he was sat at the mixing desk "Fleshing out and re-recording the bass and guitar riffs for knock 'em dead. Nikki's insistence."
Doc looked at Nikki and Nikki looked back at him, the former about to start complaining so Nik held his hand up to shut him up "Don't start. I made the choice because the riffs didn't sound right to me, and everyone agreed to it so I'm not dictating anyone. It'll only take today, and we'll get it recorded too. Don't sweat it."
"You have today, but you can't do this for every song Nikki."
"Who said I will? I just wanted to switch up this song now before it got too far into the process and would be even more of a pain in the ass to change."
"I, for one, thought it was fine how it was." Doc sighed.
"There's a reason you're a manager, not a musician. Relax dude seriously, all's good."
