A New Beginning

Tobias POV
I walked back to the dorm. Tris wasn't there and Christina was pacing back and forth.

"Christina, what happened?" I asked a little harsher than I meant

"She left. I saw her go with Matthew somewhere but I don't know where." Christina said through tears

"It's okay. We'll find her." I said

I walked to Matthew's office and burst through the door.

"Where did you take her?" I half yelled

"To the morgue." He said

I left the room and went to the morgue. David was there. I went into the morgue. Tris was sitting by an open body vault. Caleb was lying on the pull out table.

"Why are you here?" I whispered to David

"I want to tell her I was sorry for killing Caleb and she tried to shoot me. I just now got her to put the gun down."

"Get away from her and stay away. We'll be gone tomorrow."

I walked over to Tris. I sat beside her. She was whispering something.

"This is all my fault. If I had just forgiven you and told you I loved you, you wouldn't have done this." She whispered

I put my hand on her back. She jumped a little then looked at me.

"How long have you been here?" She asked, her voice hoarse

"Only about a minute." I said

"I'm sorry, I should've told where I was going. I just-"

"Tris, stop. It's okay." I whispered

David left the room. I stood up.

"We should leave today. It's not good for you here." I said

She looked at Caleb then back up at me. She nodded. Tris closed the vault that Caleb was in and we walked to the lobby. Tris grabbed our guns and walked out of the Bureau.

Tris POV
Tobias and I walked to the fence. I jumped over after Tobias. We ran back to Dauntless. When we got there, Zeke was in the lobby. He ran over to us.

"Where were you? Uriah came in here yesterday by himself. I thought you were dead." He said

I froze. Zeke noticed. I tried to relax but I ended up looking more tense.

"Are you okay Tris?" Zeke asked

"Yeah." I said, holding my tears back

Uriah ran up to me and gave me a hug.

"I'm sorry Tris. I really am." He said

I pulled away from him.

"I'm fine I just need to do something." I said

I walked out of Dauntless.

Tobias POV
"What are you not telling me?" Zeke yelled

"Why don't we go somewhere else, this is not exactly the right place to tell you." I said

We walked to Zeke's apartment. He closed the door behind us.

"Explain." He said

"Caleb died. We tried to take over the outside and release a serum into the air. Caleb volunteered to go into their vault and release it and in the process got shot." I said, trying to hide as much detail as I could.

"That's why I didn't tell you when Tris was here. She's not exactly stable." Uriah said

I punched him in the arm for calling Tris unstable.

"It's true! I saw what she did after she saw Caleb when he died! She stole David's gun and threw it against the wall. She beat down 3 officers!" Uriah yelled

Tris POV
I walked to Erudite. The new leader was standing at the desk. She walked over to me.

"Are you Beatrice?" She asked

"It's just Tris." I said

"Have you heard from Caleb?" She asked

"Actually, I just came here to look for something in his apartment." I said

Kate nodded and led me to his apartment. She left before I opened the door. I walked in and closed the door behind me. It was a small apartment and very neat. I walked around. I went over to his desk. He had a picture of me and him with a letter.

Beatrice Prior,
I don't know exactly what to say so I'll just say everything I want to say.
First, I'm sorry I helped Jeanine. I don't know what I was thinking but I know now that it was wrong.
Second,if you're reading this something happened to me. Beatrice, I love you. I always have. I never told you but I do. If you want to look through my apartment I don't mind. You can have anything in there. I don't think Kate will mind.

Blood before faction

I folded the letter and put it in my coat pocket. Someone knocked on the door. I opened it. Kate was standing there. She had a box in her arms.

"This is all of the stuff Caleb wanted you to have if anything happened to him. I figured I'd pull it out because it seems something did happen." She said

"Thank you." I said

"He died didn't he?" Kate asked

I froze then slowly nodded. She came into the apartment and closed the door behind her.

"I'm so sorry Tris. I hope he died for a good reason. I know he did." She said

"He died because of me Kate. He died because he couldn't forgive himself for what he did to me. I didn't forgive him and he was shot. THATS NOT A GOOD REASON TO DIE!" I yelled as tears streamed down my face

I left the box on his desk and ran out of Erudite. When I got back to Dauntless, I went to the training room. I started on the punching bag.

Tobias POV
An hour had passed since Tris left. I had gone back to my apartment 15 minutes ago. I walked to the Pit where Zeke and Uriah were shooting each other with paintball guns. Uriah caught my eye.

"Hey! You and Tris want to join us?" He asked

"I can't find Tris." I said

Zeke and Uriah dropped their guns and ran up to help me find her. After 30 minutes, Uriah ran up to me.

"I found her." He said

He led me to the training room. I heard grunts and chains rattling.

"I did go up to her yet. I thought you would want to do that." Uriah said

I started slowly walking toward her. She stopped punching. I walked next to her. She looked up at me. Her eyes were bloodshot and the skin around her eyes was red and puffy. I pulled her to me and wrapped my arms around her frail body.

"This is all my fault." She whispered

"Let's go back to the apartment." I said
