A New Beginning

After Amar led us to the dorms, I went over to the balcony. I leaned on the rails. I heard footsteps behind me. I looked up to see Will. He sat beside me.

"Why are you so angry with that guy, David?" Will asked

"He killed Caleb." I said. "He's also the reason my mother and father are dead too."

"I'm sorry Tris."

"It's okay. I've learned to deal with it."

There was a knock on the door. I got up and opened it. George was standing there.

"Hey Tris. We just developed a new machine and it can project exactly what is going on in that person's head." George said. "All of you can come."

I looked back at Tobias. I then looked back at George.

"Let's do it." I said

We all went into the room. It looked exactly like Jeanine's testing room. I froze.

"Tris, are you okay?" George asked

"I'm fine." I said

"You first." Amar said from the glass box

I slowly walked into the box. Amar walked out. The cords came down. I closed my eyes. The first one jabbed into my back. They jabbed into different places on my back, arms and legs. I was weak. My vision hazed. I heard screaming and banging. My eyes closed and the scene changed. I was back in Erudite and Caleb was beside Jeanine. I called out to him. Jeanine pointed a gun to his neck. She turned into David and shot.

"No!" I yelled

I struggled against the cables but I didn't go anywhere. Then I saw Caleb collapse to the ground.

"CALEB!" I yelled

Then I was back in the Bureau. Amar was beside me trying to detach the cables but the wouldn't come loose. Tobias ran in.

"George!" Amar yelled

"Yes?" George yelled back

"Who built this?"

"Nita!"

My eyes widened and I realized something. If Nita built this, I was going to die. I struggled against the cables but the were deep in my skin.

"Tris!" Tobias yelled

He ran toward me but Amar held him back.

"Four, it's no use. Unless she finds a way to-" Amar said

"Wait! Put me back in!" I yelled

"Tris no!" Tobias yelled

"Trust me! Amar get the paralytic and inject me before I go in." I yelled

Amar jabbed the paralytic into me. Then the scene changed. I saw everything exactly as it was they day Caleb died. Matthew caught my arm and pulled me back.

"Caleb!" I screamed

Caleb ran into the Weapons Lab. David wheeled past us towards the lab.

"Caleb no!" I yelled

"What do you think you're doing?" David said

All I heard was mumbling before David lifted his gun and shot. I wriggled out of Matthew's hold and ran towards Caleb. His neck was full of blood and there was a huge pool of his blood next to his neck.

"CALEB!" I yelled

I placed my hand on his neck. He looked at me.

"I love you Beatrice." He whispered before his eyes rolled back in his head

The building shook and rose out of the ground. It started to disintegrate into tiny pieces. I flew out of it. Before I new it, I hit the ground and blacked out.

Tobias POV
Tris fell back against the cables. She didn't move.

"Vitals are fine." George said

"Then why isn't she moving?" I yelled

"I don't know. The paralytic could've kicked in." George said. "We can't go in there to see. The doors are sealed until the cables are removed."

We all looked at the screen George was looking at.

Tris POV
I woke up in the box. I sat up. I was still attached to the cables. I pulled one out of my arm. The rest detached. I stood on my feet. Then I fell to my knees and fell onto the ground. The door opened. Tears fell onto my cheeks. A pair of arms picked me up and held me close. Tobias.

"Tris, are you okay?" Tobias asked

"Yeah." I said

Setting behind me popped. I pulled away from Tobias. The cables were snapping and popping. I shoved Tobias out of the box just before the cables exploded. I flew through the glass.

I woke in the dorms. I bolted up. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up to see Tobias.

"Please tell me all of that was just a dream." I said

"Th simulations, the glass box? Nope that was real. You passed out after the last one. That was enough to get the cables out. You've been out for two days now." He said

I got up out of bed. I went out to the balcony. I leaned on the bars. Tobias came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"I saw him die all over again. I can't take it anymore." I said

I saw something disintegrating in he background. I jumped out of Tobias' arms.

"Tris, what wrong?" Tobias said

"I love you Tobias Eaton. I don't know if you'll hear it in real life but at least I get to say it now. In this sim." I said

"Tris, we aren't in a sim." Tobias said

I flipped off the balcony and hit the ground hard.

George POV
I was working hard to try and get Tris out of the sim when I heard Four scream.

"No!" He yelled as he banged against the glass

I checked her vitals. They were fine.

"She's living through all of this. She fine." I said. "This is the last sim. She can't die in this one. "

I saw her standing in Abnegation. She turned around and saw Caleb. Tears fell down her cheeks. She ran toward him but he turned into crows. They flocked behind her and turned into Caleb again. She turned around to face him. Crows flocked beside him and formed her mother, father, and Al. Her mother stepped forward.

"You killed us all and you are going to pay." She said

They all formed into crows again who attacked Tris. They picked her up and threw her only to catch her and throw her again. This process repeated until she fell to the ground. A lone crow picked her up. Then my screen when black. I opened the doors. Four rushed in. The cables detached and her limp body fell into Four's arms.
