A New Beginning

I woke up to the buzz of a razor. I got up and slipped on a new set of pants and sleeveless top. I walked into the bathroom where Tobias was shaving is newly forming beard. I wrapped my arms around his waist and poked my head over his shoulder. He laughed and put the razor down. He turned around to me. He kissed my forehead. We walked to the dinning hall. We held hands as we ate. Zeke and Uriah say with us. We finished early and walked to the ledge. Zeke trailed behind us.

"Can I get everyone's attention? Thank you. Okay so I know you have been looking for a new leader. Well now you have 2 top of their class former initiates to lead you. Four and Tris!" Zeke yelled

We walked up to the railing. Everyone cheered.

"I have a crazy idea." I said to Tobias

"What?" Tobias said

I looked to Zeke. He laughed.

"Are you seriously gonna do it?" Zeke asked

"Yeah. Dauntless never back out of a dare." I said

I let go of Tobias' hand. I backed up to the wall.

"What are you doing?" Tobias asked

"I'm not gonna hurt myself. Just doing a dare that Zeke told me to do when we were out there." I said

I looked at Zeke. He nodded, smiled, and gave me a thumbs up. I ran to the rail. I pushed off the rail and back flipped to the dinning area. I kept running. The Dauntless got up and ran with me. We ran through the city. Zeke caught up with me and handed me the gun.

"Are you sure Four is okay with this?" I asked

"I asked him. He said he doesn't want anything to do with his father but he wants to see him hurt." Zeke said

We slowly our running.

"Okay, split up into four groups and go to the rooftops of the buildings. We are here for Marcus' execution." I said

They cheered. And someone screamed 'DEATH TO THE EVIL DEVIL!' I laughed

They split into their groups. Tobias and I stayed on the ground with Zeke. I looked to Tobias.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" I asked

"Yeah. I just don't want to be apart of it." He said

I looked at the time. Marcus would arrive in 2 minutes.

"Go into Erudite lobby. Wait until Marcus comes. I'll signal you." I said

Tobias kissed my forehead.

"I love you." He whispered before I was stabbed by Marcus

I woke up to Tobias shaking me.

"You ready?" He asked

"Yeah." I said

We walked to the dinning hall ledge with Tobias' fingers laced with mine. We stood at the rail. Zeke stood up.

"LETS HEAR IT FOR THE NEW LEADERS OF DAUNTLESS!" Zeke yelled

Everyone cheered. I laughed.

"AND TO START OUR LEADERSHIP OFF RIGHT, URIAH AND I HAVE A LITTLE DARE FOR TRIS!" Zeke said

"TRIS, I DARE YOU TO JUMP OFF THE LEDGE." Uriah yelled

I remembered the sim that Jeanine put me through. That's when I almost lost Tobias. I froze.

"You okay?" He asked

"I'm fine." I said

I slowly backed up to the wall.

"Tris, what is it? You don't have to do this."

I took a deep breath. I closed my eyes and opened them again. I ran off the ledge.

Flashback
I flew backwards out of the top of the Erudite building as it broke apart into little pieces. I fell to the ground. I slammed onto the ground and closed my eyes.

Flashback over

"TRIS!" Zeke yelled

I was about to land face first into the floor. I flipped and landed on my feet. Everyone cheered. I put on a fake smile. I walked back to my apartment. Tobias was close behind me.

"Tris, you didn't have to do that." He said

I sat down on the bed with my legs crossed. Tobias sat in front of me.

"What happened?" He asked

"I just had a flashback." I said

I looked at my hands.

"Flashback to what?"

"I was in the sim again. The sim that Jeanine put me under that I almost lost you." I said trying to hold back tears

"Zeke is having a party for us tonight. Do you want to go?" He asked

"Sure." I said

Tobias pulled me closer to him. We sat there for a while, enjoying each other's presence. We got up and went to Zeke's apartment. Christina, Uriah, Shauna and Tori were already there.

"Hey!" Zeke yelled

"Where is everyone?" I asked

"They split into groups and started playing Truth or Dare." Zeke said

After a while, we sat down and started playing. Zeke started.

"I have a truth for Tris. What happened earlier?" Zeke asked

I looked at my hands.

"Tell them Tris." Tobias whispered

"Chris, you remember when Marlene died and Jeanine said that if a divergent didn't go to Erudite that 3 more would jump?" I said

Christina nodded.

"I went. Jeanine put me in a sim to make a stronger serum. One of the sims was me falling out of the top of the shattering Erudite building. That's went I-that's went I-" I stuttered. "I need a minute."

I got up and walked out of Zeke's apartment.

Tobias POV
Tris walked out of the apartment.

"Dude why is she like this?" Zeke asked

"While she was in the sim, Peter injected her with a purple paralytic serum. That's when she almost died and that's also when Caleb betrayed her which is also why he volunteered." I said

Tris came back into the room. She sat back next to me.

Tris POV
"Uriah, go outside and find a random person from another faction and tell them to shoot you. But first put this on." I said before handing him a bulletproof vest

Uriah put the vest on.

"You are doing it with me." Uriah said

I pulled out the second vest and put it on. Uriah and I ran outside with the others close behind. When we got outside, Zeke handed us both a gun before taking the others to the roof. We walked around. We found a man walking around. I recognized him. It was Marcus.

"Put your gun away." I whispered

I held my gun in my hand. I walked up to him. He looked at me.

"Can I help you?" Marcus asked

"Yeah." I handed him the gun. "Shoot me."

"I'd be happy to." Marcus said as he lifted the gun to my head

Uriah took out his gun.

"Put the gun down." Uriah yelled

Marcus pointed the gun at my leg and shot. I screamed out in pain. Uriah lifted me up and put my arm over his shoulders. He ran to the infirmary. After a while, he picked me up bridal style and ran faster. Tobias came up running beside Uriah.

"I'll meet you there!" Tobias yelled

Uriah sprinted. When we got there, he set me on a bed. I felt myself fading.

"Caleb." I said before blacking out
