A New Beginning

5 years later- Tris POV
Britney is now 5 years old. Tobias and I are Dauntless leaders again. We live in a slightly bigger apartment now, closer to the training room. I have been sick and in bed for 3 days. Britney is going to stay with Christina and Will for about a week. Tobias promised to take me to the doctor today. I am currently laying in bed. Tobias walked through the door. He sat on the bed next to me.

"You okay?" He asked as he rubbed my shoulder

"I don't know." I said

"We have to get going if you want to get the the doctor on time." Tobias said gently

It took a while but in the end, Tobias ended up carrying me. When we got there, he set me on a bed. The nurse did the routine blood pressure/weight/height check. The nurse said that she was fine. That was until she started looking Tris over. She pulled her pant leg up to reveal a bright red, swelling rash.

"Oh my god." She said. "SHAUNA!"

Shauna recently started working as a nurse. She rushed over to Tris.

"Oh my god." Shauna gasped

"What is it?" I asked, my hands shaking. I clenched my fists to stop the shaking.

"Tris, how long has your leg been like this?" Shauna asked

"About a month. Why?" Tris replied

"Marie, get ready for the procedure. Four, can you please wait outside, it'll only take about an hour." Shauna said

I sat outside waiting. Christina came in with Will and Britney behind her. Britney ran up to me and I picked her up and put her in my lap.

"Is she okay?" Christina asked

"Her leg was swollen and it was bright red. They kicked me out here before telling me anything." I said

Tris POV-1 hour later
I laid in the infirmary staring at the ceiling. I couldn't feel anything below my waist. I began to panic. I felt a hand on my shoulder. A strong and muscular hand on my right shoulder. I looked over to see Tobias. He gave me a small smile from his chair.

"Where's Britney? Is she okay?" I asked

"She's in the waiting room with Christina and Will. I didn't want her in here until you were okay with it." He said

I sat up slowly. Shauna walked over to me in her nurse outfit. She smiled at me and pulled back the blanket over my right leg. My leg was wrapped in some white bandage. She pulled back the bandages, revealing a normal colored, not swollen leg.

"How did you do that?" I asked

Shauna chuckled. "A magician never reveals her secrets. I just have to sign a couple of papers and you can go home. Just don't do any workouts or training for the next week."

After Shauna signed the paperwork, Tobias helped me out of bed. We walked into the waiting room. Britney hugged me carefully. Christina, Will, Tobias, Britney and I all walked back to my apartment. I immediately sat down on the bed, propping my leg up. Britney snuggled up against me. Her tiny body was curled up against my torso.

"What was wrong with your leg?" Christina asked, sitting down on the bed next to me

"Ask Shauna. She never told me." I said

"Well, I should get going. Come on Will." Christina said

Christina stormed out of the apartment with Will following behind her. After Britney went to sleep, I laid down in our bed.

"You okay?" Tobias asked

"Yeah. Just tired." I said

He laid down next to me and we feel asleep.
