Taming the Vampire

CHAPTER NINETY-TWO

M I L L E R

We went to the red light district, but before we could even get there Mateo brought me into his mansion first. Ngayon na nakakapag-teleport na ako, mukhang mas mapapadali na rin ang trabaho ni Mateo. I can teleport myself that could also mean na nakaka-save na ng energy si Mateo... at kung sinuman na makakasama ko sa isang misyon.

Ngayon na alam ko na rin kung paano at kung ano ang nangyayari sa katawan ko sa tuwing ginagamit ko ang ability na ito, I could say that one or two consecutive teleportation with an extra person is really worth a ten kilometer run. Ang tindi pala ng balik sa katawan sa tuwing nakiki-hitch ako kay Kristoff o kay Axel.

"Here is the profile of the men working under Logan. They are formerly Bernard's henchmen." May ipinakita sa akin na libro si Mateo na ang laman ay ang mga litrato ng mga vampirized humans na ngayon ay naging loyal dogs na ni Bernard, or should I say na si Logan na ang amo nila ngayon.

Kahit na bago na ang boss nila, mukhang pinagpapatuloy pa rin nila ang ginagawa nila. Wala silang pakialam sa iba.

"How did you get these?" tanong ko nang makita ang dami ng mga litrato.

It has at least fifty pages with four profiles on each page.

"We've lived so long that we have all the time to follow and investigate people, Miller," sagot ni Mateo.

He wanted me to see their faces, at kahit papaano ay matandaan man lang ng konti. May kakayahan din na magbago ng anyo ang mga vampirized, pero marami sa kanila ang hindi ito madalas na ginagamit. Maybe because they don't get to live a hundred years yet, wala silang rason na magpalit ng mukha. Or maybe they are just like me na hindi pa rin alam kung paano magbago ng anyo.

Right. I guess I will have to learn that one next time if I have mastered the teleportation ability.

"Uh, what am I gonna do again?" I eagerly asked.

"Like what I've said, we are looking for the loyal dogs under Logan. We know that the leader never went hunting, they just do the dirty things of training vampirized humans and segregating which are capable of fighting and which are not. So..."

"So if we stopped those goons, magiging paralisado na rin ang sistema nila? Am I right?" Hula ko.

This is quite exciting.

"Right." Maikli naman na sagot ni Mateo.

I looked up to the profiles for some more time. Hindi ko naman na-memorize ang lahat ng mga nandoon. But I at least got to see what type of (ex) human being would betray humanity for someone like Ronaldo.

There are some who are former criminals. May iba pa nga na hindi lang basta-bastang kriminal, may mga dating politiko, negosyante, at iba't iba pang makapangyarihan na mga personalidad. May mga maayos naman ang buhay dati pero may mahinang katawan. Of course, turning into a vampire could give a human the superhuman ability so, it's understandable that some would love the freedom.

Sa madaling, salita these (former) humans followed Ronaldo's organization by choice. Kaya hindi ako makokonsensya in case na may makaharap akong isa sa kanila. It's too troublesome if they use something like being a former human as a defense and have pity on them.

"Let's go. I think this is the best time for them to show up," sambit sa akin ni Mateo.

Sabik akong tumayo, pero syempre I tried to hide it. We were about to teleport when I remembered a thing or two to ask.

"Wait. Bakit ako ang sinama mo rito? There are other vampires who's much more capable than me."

Hindi lumingon sa akin si Mateo. Hindi rin niya ako sinagot. But it didn't stop me from asking more.
