It Was Good While It Lasted

Notes:

Hello my wonderful children, I know the chapter title seems concerning but it's not what think, I promise. I assume it seems like I'm stopping this book, but I assure you I'm not. I just want to change some things. My last few chapters I have been having regrets about and I've noticed they aren't as well liked as my other ones, which is completely fine but I want to change that. So, with that being said, let's begin, shall we?

I look over the people within the theatre with a soft look, watching as they talk and interact with each other. As I watch them, I think about how Shadow is doing and hope she is resting because she really needed it. I stand in silence at the podium the computer sits on, lost in thought. My thoughts mainly focusing on Shadow's wellbeing and how she needs to take care of herself more. (Hmm, I wonder who else needs to do that... Hmmm... I wonder? Hint. Hint. 😉)

It takes quite a while, but I break out of my thoughts, remembering that they are here to react. I start to prepare the video to be played before I gather their attention. Just as I finish preparing the video and go to grab the members of both universes' attention, a soft hug stops me.

I look down slightly and see that it is Shadow who is hugging me, I immediately reciprocate her hug by wrapping my arms around her, although I'm quick to move a hand to the back of her head, pulling down her hood and running my fingers through her hair. She leans into the touch and we stay like that for quite a while.

We stand there in comfortable silence, until it is broken by soft-spoken words that leave Shadow's mouth. "Thank you for taking over to give me a break.. Akari, I really appreciate it." Hearing her gentle tone and appreciative words leaves me smiling softly, my heart filled with warmth at having been able to help her. A soft chuckle leaves my lips, which leads to Shadow lifting her head up, gazing into my eyes with a mix of confusion and surprise. My smile brightens seeing the childlike look of curiosity that rests upon Shadow's features, my heart melting further.

I internally think of how sweet it is that she is appreciative, but mostly think about how she shouldn't need to be appreciative in the first place. Considering it is the bare minimum to care for someone's wellbeing and ensure that you and they themself are taking care of their wellbeing. I internally shake my head, reminding myself to not get side tracked.

Returning my focus and attention to the situation, I respond to her words with a soft and reassuring smile. "You are very welcome sweetheart, but while I hope you are feeling better you need to look after yourself more." Even though my smile is soft and reassuring, my words are soft but stern. I speak this way to show Shadow the importance of my words and leave an impact, especially since taking care of oneself is a necessity.

Waiting for Shadow to respond my thoughts wander from the events that just unfolded, to the thoughts of how the characters of the two universes are going to react to the video they are about to watch.

My thoughts are short-lived as they are interrupted by Shadow speaking up with the same tone she used previously. "I know I should take care of myself more... I just forget, but I'll try harder... Anyway, for now I'm doing better and I think I'm ready to take back control of the theatre and continue having them react." The last sentence within her statement is spoken with a change in her voice, while it is still soft there is now a clear presence of confidence.

As I listen to her words and the change in her tone throughout, I process her words, using her tone to work out if she is truly up to taking over once more. I stand there in silence for quite a while, thinking over her actions, especially her body language and voice before coming to a decision.

After coming to my conclusion, I speak up and respond to her speech. "Alright, I see that you are truly feeling better and up for taking over once again, so I shall let you. But I want you to take care of yourself and not overwork yourself. Do you understand?" I speak sternly, but once I receive a confident and reassuring nod from Shadow I relax. "Well then, I'll leave you to it." As I speak, Shadow smiles warmly at me.

I disappear from the theatre, leaving Shadow to take over. I leave with the confidence that Shadow will be okay and that the both her and the characters of both universes are in good hands.

After the disappearance of her creator, Shadow stands still in her spot for a while, collecting her thoughts. Once she is ready, she takes a deep breath and pulls her hood over her face. Turning around to face the members sat within the audience who are currently chatting, she prepares to gather their attention and start the next reaction to the video which was previously set up.

Notes:

Well, how was it? I hope it was better than the previous chapters... lol... Anyway, I want to make it clear that taking care of yourself is important and a necessity. Please take my words seriously, I know what it's like thinking that it doesn't matter, but trust me it absolutely is. Please, Please, Please look after yourself. I love you all and goodbye for now my wonderful children.
