The fight was epic.
It wasn't anything like the mock training we held at the compound with the new tech Stark wanted to try out. No, this was real. The air was thick with tension, and I wasn't being babied. I wasn't wrapped in cotton wool or coddled in the way they usually treated me. spiraling with every movement as I used my telekinesis to throw agents into walls or hold them mid-air with my will. It felt liberating.
Well, as liberating as it could be with Bucky shouting all sorts of 'threats' from across the room about grounding me if I got too reckless.
I rolled my eyes, barely able to suppress a grin. "I'm fine, Bucky! Just enjoy the show!"
"Quit showing off!" he snapped, but I could tell he was relieved. He always got tense when I was in the thick of it. "If you end up in a wall again, I swear—"
"Yeah, yeah. I'll go easy, old man," I teased back, barely dodging a punch from an approaching agent. A telekinetic wave sent him crashing into the nearest pillar, and I glanced back to see Bucky giving me a pointed look.
"I mean it!" he shouted, but his eyes softened. He couldn't keep up the tough guy act for long.
I'd just taken down another agent with a burst of telekinetic force when I heard the distinct sound of a heavy padlock clicking open, followed by a heavy thud. My heart skipped. The Avengers were out.
The blur of motion that followed was unreal. The whirring of Tony's suit coming back online cut through the chaos, the familiar hum of his arc reactor a comforting sound amidst the chaos. Thor's mighty roar echoed across the room as he called Mjolnir to his hand, the hammer crackling with electricity as it soared through the air, taking down agents left and right.
Clint's bowstring snapped with practiced precision, arrows flying through the air with deadly accuracy as he picked off agents from a distance. "You're slowing down, Rogers!" Clint shouted across the room, clearly enjoying himself. "You'd think the super soldier would be faster!"
Steve shot Clint a look over his shoulder, grinning. "Keep up, Barton."
Natasha and Steve fought side by side, their movements flawless as they took down enemies with swift, synchronized punches and kicks. Natasha looked like she was having the time of her life, spinning around to knock an agent out cold with a quick leg sweep. She chuckled at Steve. "Keeping up just fine, Cap."
