Putting our food on the table, Gerry sits down and starts to eat. He came home late last night from work so I never really got the chance to speak to him about my first day in the office.
"I forgot to ask, how was your day yesterday?" Gerry finally asks.
Sitting down on the chair opposite him I began eating some strawberries.
"It was awful, I hate it Gerry" I confess.
"Why, what happened?" He asks.
"Well...he made me multitask in a small amount of time and we had this meeting. Oh God, the meeting. He had this man called Yong Kun come in to this meeting. Everything was going fine and then my phone went off" Gerry's eyes went wide in realisation.
"Isn't your ringtone..."
"Yep, it is" Gerry starts laughing to himself.
"Gerry, it's not funny. Mr Peace embarrassed me in front of everybody, he even fired me but I begged him to let me keep the job so he gave me another chance. He goes if I do it again he'll make sure that my face will never be seen around San Francisco again"
"I don't understand why you just don't quit?" Gerry says to me in frustration.
"Gerry, you know why I just won't quit. You know about my da-"
"I don't want to hear it Soph" I realise that he's already eaten his breakfast and is getting up from his chair to leave. "I don't want to argue about this so early in the morning"
"But I'm not the one who's arguing. You're the one who just started it" He looks at me with a raised eyebrow and runs a hand through his hair.
"I'm just telling you what I think is best" He tells me.
"I know you are Gerry but you know why I can't quit. He's my dad at the end of the day and I respect him" I say.
Gerry sighs to himself and gets up from his chair.
"I'm getting late for work, bye" He comes over and kisses the top of my head before leaving the apartment.
I wasn't even the one who was arguing, he's the one who stirred it up. Finishing my breakfast of in peace and quiet I get up from my seat. I actually made the effort to get up early today. If I'm being honest the main reason was for Gerry, he leaves for work one hour before I do. And another thing I made an effort about is my clothes.
Yesterday, I was dressed up in a printed dress but today you can tell I'm going to an office. Black pencil skirt, white sleeveless lace button down shirt and a pair of black flats. Don't worry Mr Peace I will knock your socks of today- hopefully.
Walking towards the mirror, in the hallway I just run my hands through my hair until some of the flyways have tamed down. Having shoulder length hair with a fringe can be a real pain sometimes; it takes a big effort to fix.
Feeling very much satisfied with myself I leave the apartment making sure to lock everything before leaving. Getting into my car, I head straight down to Starbucks. If he doesn't like Starbucks then I have no idea what's wrong with the man.

"Good morning Samantha" I say to her.
She gives me a smile and a wave.
"Good morning to you as well Miss Koenraad" She replies back.
"Oh please, call me Sofie" I better quickly give Mr Peace his coffee, preparing myself I knock on his door and wait for him to answer.
Balancing my weight on both of my feet I wait for him to reply back when he finally does. Thank God, he took two whole minutes just to reply back. Opening the door with my free hand, I shut it behind me and head over to his desk. The room, it feels like him, I'm scared something might just pop up and hit me right in the face.
"Here's your coffee Mr Peace, black coffee with no sugar" I say remembering what he told me from yesterday.
I finally look up to make eye contact with him; he's looking at me with the normal glare on his face. I know he wasn't born like that but why hold the same expression on your face. Doesn't he ever get tired or doesn't his face ever get tired?
"You're early" He says to me.
"Yes I know Mr Peace. I thought it would be a good opportunity to get to know all of my fellow colleagues around the office, it would make my job a little easier" I say with full satisfaction.
I give him a wide smile to which he looks at me with disgust. I quickly cover up my smile; ok he doesn't like it when I smile. I should keep that in mind now.
"That won't be necessary Koenraad. Just go to your office and get the hell on with your work. I've sent you a list of what you have to do. Get on with it before I kick your sorry ass out" He turns his attention back to his computer and begins typing away.
As much as I want to disagree with what he just said, I nod my head instead as a yes.
"That I will just do" Quickly leaving his office, I shut the door behind me and head down to my own. At least he never shouted at me, he just told me to piss off. That's very good coming from him, looks like he's in a good mood so far.

The email he sent me. I managed to do half of them but the other half, my God. I didn't know any single software that was installed on this computer so I called up Michael once in a while asking for his help. He's so nice it's unbelievable. He went out of his way to help me; he even came down to my room to explain one of the software's and how to use them. If Michael wasn't nice to me then I would have most definitely been screwed over.
Currently, I'm typing up a letter for one of Mr Peace's client when there's a knock on my door.
"Come in" I finish of the last line and save the document.
"It's time for lunch, you can come out of his hole now" Michael says from the doorway.
Smiling at him, I get up from my chair and grab my back which I put on the hook. Me and Michael both walk out of the room to see a few other people heading out as well.
"Koenraad!" A loud voice booms from behind her.
Mr Peace, turning around I see him walking towards me. I don't know why but my brain seemed to stop functioning. He may be really mean but he is a very good looking man. He looks like a model on a runway.
"Yes Mr Peace?" I ask once he's a few feet in front of me.
"Where the hell are you going?" He doesn't look at anyone else but me with the usual look on his face.
"I...I'm going for lunch" I assure him.
"You can't go for lunch. You have to call these people" He hands me a piece of paper with a couple of names on their "and set up a meeting with them, whatever time they request today is fine. If they say that they want another day tell me that I'm more than happy to deport them out of America"
"I will get on straight away Mr Peace" I expect Mr Peace to walk off but he just stands there, I guess he doesn't trust me. "I'll see you later" I say to Michael.
He gives me a small smile and walks away. Walking around Mr Peace I start to make my way back to the office. There goes my lunch; I'm going to stuff myself when I get home.
Well, I managed to do what he told me in the half an hour. Relaxing back onto my chair, I look around the office. It really is dull in here. I should most definitely make some paintings and drawings for this room. Getting up from my chair I begin to examine each and every wall. I've already got so much ideas in my mind for everything I'm going to do. This is going to be very fun.
