chapter - 7

She woke up by the constant ring of her
doorbell. She lazily opened her eyes and
walked out of the room to open the door.
She was still in sleep but when she opened
her door the person in front of her was
enough to flew her sleep.
"You..!!" She shouted.
"Hi..!!" He waved his hand in front of her
innocently.

Manik after leaving Canteen went to
the clerks office and asked him about
Nandini's address. After taking her address
he bought medicines for her. Then he
bought some fruits and he bought some
Chinese food for her and "her family". Soon
he reached her apartment and now as
expected she was shocked.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Nandini
said gritting her teeth.
"Ohh come on friends visit each
other right..!!" Manik said cheekily.
"I am not your friend..!" Nandini said
angrily. "Just go away..!!" She said pushing
him.
"Woohoo..!! Look if you are scared of your
parents then don't take tension main un say
baat kar loon ga..!!" Manik said.
"Manik..!! I live alone here..!!" Nandini said
in a low voice and Manik got another shock.
"What? You live alone here? That's good..!!"
Manik said smilingly "Now can come in? I
have brought you medicines and some
food..!!"
"Why are you doing this? Why are you
showing this mercy on me?" Nandini said
looking in his eyes.
"Look Nandini I am not doing any kind of
mercy..! I just want to be a friend nothing
else..!!" Manik said affectionately and
Nandini step aside giving him way to come
in. Manik smilingly stepped in.
"Nice apartment..!!" Manik complimented
her.
"Thanks..!!" She said lowering her head.
"By the way how are you now? Are you
feeling better?" Manik asked politely and she
just nodded.
"Have you ate the dinner? If not then come
fast and dish out this food..!!" Manik said
placing the food boxes on the table.
"Ok..I'll be back in two minutes..!!"
Saying that Nandini went to her room to
wash her face. Manik got busy in
looking here and there. He was little
surprised on Nandini living alone..!! Soon
Nandini came back and unpacked the food.
They both sat on the table and started
eating. After taking first bite se realized it
was chinese.
"Bhabhi you know how much I love Chinese..!!"
"I know that's why I cooked it for you..!!"
Tears brimmed in her eyes but she blinked
them away.
"You like the food? It is really very tasty
right?" Manik being a foody was enjoying
the food a lot.
"I don't know if it's tasty or not..!!"
Nandini said calmly and Manik look at her.
"What? Your taste buds don't work?" He
asked surprisingly and she gave him a
deathly glare. "Sorry bad joke...!!" Manik
immediately said sorry.
"I am least interested in taste of food..!! I
just eat that much which keep me alive..!!"
She murmured inaudibly but Manik heard it.
Nandini was becoming a mystery for him.
"Acha..!! Where is your family? Do they live
in some other city?" Manik asked changing
the topic.
"I am an orphan..!!" Nandini said in a low
tone.
"Oh I am sorry..! And any sibling?" Manik
asked.
"Thay bhaiya aur bhabhi..!! But thay are
also DEAD..!!" Nandini said in
a hatred tone turned her face. And Manik's
lips curved in O.
"Now if your interview is done..!! Will you
please leave?" Nandini said looking at him.
Manik got up from his chair and walked
towards her. He kneeled in front of her and
held her hands. Nandini looked at him in
surprise. Don't know why but his touch was
not hurting her..!! It was
soothing..!! She was lost in his eyes..!! Those
eyes were magical..!!
"Nandini..!! I want to share your pain..!!"
Manik said looking in her eyes and suddenly
Nandini came out of the trance she jerked
his hands away and got up from her chair.
Leaving a pissed of Manik behind now he
was facing her back
"Manik..!! I am not in pain..!! Stop
interfering in my life..!! It's my bloody life..!!
You are no one to me..!! No one..!!" Nandini
lied controlling her emotions.
"Am I really nothing to you?" Manik
asked sadly from her back.
"Yes..!! Nothing...!!" Nandini said and closed
her eyes in pain she had to jerk him away.
"Ok..!! Bye then..!!" Manik said sadly and
turned to leave. Nandini followed him and
he opened the exit door. He was about to
step out of the door when he heard her
whisper and that was:
"Thank you Manik..!!"
He smiled and she had locked the door
now.
As soon as Manik left Nandini bursted out in
tears.
"I am sorry Manik..!! I am so sorry..!! It's
for your own good..!! I am really very
sorry..!!" She said between her sobs. If
Manik would had asked her to be her friend
a year ago she must had died with happiness
but now her own life was ruined. She was
not more than a burden..!! She was a bad
girl..!! Very bad..!!

After being "kicked out" of Nandini's
apartment Manik was really very pissed
off. He drove back home. And as usual his
caring mother was sitting in the lounge
waiting for him.
"Manik..!! Beta where were you?" Nayonika
asked hugging him immediately.
"Nowhere..!! Just was partying with
friends..!!" Manik said and lay down on the
sofa beside her keeping his head in her lap.
"Hmmm..!! Today Raghav was telling me
that you performed with some other girl and
you nailed it..!!" She said and ruffled his
hair.
"Yeah..!! Raghav your reporter..!!" Manik
made an ill face.
"Manik..!!" She playfully hit him. "Who was
the girl?"
"The scholarship girl Mom..!!" Manik said
closing his eyes.
"Nandini?" Nayonika asked and Manik
nodded his head. "Ohhh that girl..!! Very
talented..!" Nayonika complimented her.
"Do you like her?" Nayonika asked and
Manik's eyes shoot open.
"Mom..!! How do you know everything..!!"
Manik asked looking in her eyes.
"Hmmm..!! Well my brilliant son..!! I am
your Mom..!! Don't underestimate me..!!"
Nayonika said laughingly.
"Please tell me na?" Manik pleaded.
"Acha acha..!! Doctor told me that you came
there with a girl in your arms...!! So I just
guessed..!!" Nayonika said smilingly and
Manik sighed. His Mom's "jasoos" were like
everywhere.
"I don't know Mom..!!" Manik said closing
his eyes again.
"Are you still not get over with Soha?"
Nayonika asked running her fingers in his
hair.
"Oh come on Mom..!! Soha meri life main
kabhi the he nahi..!! It's just like I went to
Nandini's house today...!! You know Mom
she is not ready to even talk to me..!!" Manik
explained Nayonika and she nodded.
"So that means kahani main twist hai...!!"
Nayonika said pulling his cheeks.
"Mom please na..!!" Manik made a face.
"Ok ok..!! I have an idea..!! You na just
ignore her..!! Then see does your
ignorance effect her or not? If it does na..!!
Then she will herself come running in your
arms..!!" Nayonika said clicking her fingers
and smiled.
"Hmm..!! Nice idea..! But Mom..!! She said
that I am nothing to her..!!" Manik again
become sad.
"Ohoo..!! Manik..!! Let her trust you first
beta..!!" Nayonika said affectionately. "Young
girls are very sensitive..!! You have to
handle them carefully..!! Give her
some TLC ..!!" Nayonika said smilingly.
"TLC ?" Manik frowned.
"Yes..!! Tender love and care ..!!" Nayonika
said poking his nose.
"Love?" Manik asked with an absent mind.
"Do I love her?" Manik talked to himself.
"Yes..!! It is love..!! Although it is a waste of
time..!! But Manik do waste your time as did
with your dad..!!" Nayonika ended up
laughing hard and Manik too joined
her. "But before all this just ignore her
completely..!!"Nayonika winked.
"I love you Mom..!!" Manik encircled his
arms around her waist.
"Mom loves you too Manik..!!" She said and
kissed his forehead.

Next morning Nandini was passing from the
parking of SPACE suddenly a shiny black Car
stopped few inches away from her, she
gasped and tried hard to maintain her
balance but in vain she was about to fall
when someone hold her. She look at the
person who was none other than Manik.
"Are you ok?" Manik asked her and she
nodded. Manik helped her to stand straight.
Meanwhile the owner of that black car came
out. Manik look at him and frowned. He
hide Nandini behind him.
"Are you blind Harshad Saxena?" Manik said
angrily.
"Ohhh not at all Malhotra..!!" Harshad
exclaimed shamelessly. "Who is the beautiful
girl behind you?" He tried to look at Nandini
but Manik didn't let him.
"None of yours business..!!"Manik said
frowning his face. "Nandini you go inside
the college..!!" Manik said and Nandini
noddingly run inside the college.
"Stay away from her Saxena...!!" Manik said
angrily pointing his finger.
"Oh Come on Malhotra..!! We always share
girlfriends..!! You remember Soha?"
Harshad said smiling shamelessly. And
Manik felt like tearing Harshad in pieces.
"Yes I do remember everything..!! But this
time I won't let you do this..!! If you ever
try to come near her na I swear to my God I
won't spare you this time..!!" Manik said
patting his shoulder coldly and walked
inside leaving a smirking Harshad behind
him.
