"Be a doll and go get the blower upper thing for me," you hollered to Greg. His head was stuck in the back of his car. For your one year anniversary (you had known each other for 4 years, but just recently discovered your love for each other), you both decided it would be fun to go camping. At the moment you were blowing up the raft, and Greg was unloading.

"Yes dear," he drawled sarcastically. You chuckled to yourself and unfolded the forest green laugh, finding all the holes you were supposed to blow up. You heard crunching footsteps and saw it was Greg, he set down the blower upper thing (you'd really have to figure out the name of that thing).

"Thanks for helping unload." I glanced into the back of the car.

"Stop whining, you only have to unload the tent and cooler and you're done. And the sooner you do that, the sooner we can go rafting."

"Well, in order to go rafting, the raft has to actually be blown up," he said matter-of-factly.

"Yes and if you keep complaining, I'll be done blowing this up by the time you walk over the car," you replied cheekily. He faked laughed, then playfully kicked you. You punched him in the leg, and he limped back to the car while muttering.

"Bloody crazy woman I love." You smiled.

"Okay on the count of three. 1...2...3... GO!" you yelled jumping into the raft.

"Sweetheart, I'm going to just make this easy on us and push us a little ways into the river before I get in."

"Fine, do it the boring way," You muttered, rolling your eyes. You moved towards the front and grabbed an oar that was in the raft. After pushing the raft some, Greg hopped in the boat clumsily.

"How graceful," You commented sarcastically. He splashed some water on you and you shrieked.

"Don't start with me Greg Lestrade." He snickered, annoying you was his favorite pastime. Up ahead down the river you saw some rapids. It was peaceful on the river, the sun shone and warmed you. Ducks floated by the river bank and birds fluttered in the sky. Then you heard the rapids. No, they weren't the big white water rapids, but they were big enough to feel like a roller coaster. You paddled towards them, aiming for the biggest ones, pulled your oar back in the boat. Greg grabbed ahold of your lifejacket strap.

"Scared?" you mocked.

"No." But you knew he was, he was scared. But it was cute. You neared the rapids and suddenly the raft started moving up and down like a roller coaster. You screamed in delight, and Greg was silent behind you. After the boat was leveled again you turned around in glee. Greg smiled weakly at you.

"Wasn't that awesome? 7 more to go Gregory, I hope you are ready."

"So ready," he grumbled. And so it went, you hollering like a crazy woman and enjoying the rapids, and Greg gritting his teeth and holding onto you. Then came the big one. It was the last rapid, the host of the campground you were staying at had told you about it. You spotted it down the river and already heard the rumbling water. You clapped your hands together happily, excited for the last thrill.

"(Y/f/n)?"

"Greg you can't get out of the raft now," you said turning around to face him. And there he was. On one knee. A small black box in hand.

"(Y/f/n) (y/l/n), I love you. I don't know if we'll make it out alive past the next rapid, and I would like to marry you before you die, so will you marry me? Before our untimely death?" Your breath was stuck in your throat. But you managed a head shake, and stuck out your hand. He slid the ring on and you tackled him, both of you falling back in the raft. You kissed him, so in love with the man in front of you.

"I hate to ruin the moment, but I think the rapids are approaching at a very rapid ((lol @ my joke pun)) rate." You chuckled at him, and pushed yourself up. The rapids were just 20 feet away, the sound loud, and the water beastly.

He wrapped his arms around you protectively, and you smiled, kissing his arm lightly.

"Get ready Gregory, this is going to be the ride of your life, and I'm not talking about the rapids."

This idea spontaneously came to my mind when I too was floating down the river going over rapids and I thought "wow what a great place to ask someone to marry you".
