"You see? This is why we can't do this anymore (y/n). You expect too much. You know who I am, you got yourself into this." Tears tugged at your eyes as you reached out to him once more, but he pulled away.

"Sherlock please, I'm sorry," you managed to squeak out. He look down on you, anger flooding his eyes. "I didn't mean to-"

"No. I don't want to hear anymore. Leave. Now." You felt the last strings of your heart pull apart, and you turned away before he could see you cry. You sprinted out the door of 221B, and ran into someone on the stairs. John. And he didn't look happy.

"You really screwed up (y/n)," he scolded. "Sherlock is never going to forgive you." Your head hurt, along with your heart, and you sidestepped John, trying to run away from your world that had just come crashing down on you. But cars rushed by on the street, giving you no chance for a get away. You heard shouting and looked to find Sherlock stomping down the stairs towards you.

"I'LL TOLD YOU TO LEAVE (Y/N)," shouted Sherlock. Veins pumped from his neck. As he got closer, you noticed he had a heart in his hand - your heart. He approached you, stopping a foot away, and held it out to you, a devilishly handsome smirk on his face.

"I'm going to crush your heart (y/n). Just as you crushed mine." You felt your chest being constricted, and your head began to swim. You looked straight into Sherlock's eyes, his beautiful eyes, as he went to crush the last bit of life out of you.

~

He hates me. Your vision was black and you sucked in the fresh air that surrounded you. He hates me. Your heart, still in your chest, pumped wildly to the painful beat stuck inside your head. He hates me. You clenched the covers that surrounded you. He's never going to forgive me. Sleep still clouded your mind, as you functioned on being only half conscious.

"(Y/n)?" came a familiar voice from the other side of the bed. You tensed and tried to stay still, not wanting to intensify his hatred of you by being the cause that woke him up. A finger poked you in the arm, but you lay still, holding your breath, feeling streaks of tears roll down your cheeks. The lamp to your right snapped on, and you covered your head, trying to curl into the smallest ball possible, hoping he would have mercy and take no notice of you.

"(Y/n)." He pulled back the covers, and you let him, not wanting to start another fight. He stayed silent, as did you.

"I'm sorry Sherlock," you whimpered. A piece of fabric rubbed at your face, and you realized Sherlock was using the covers to wipe your tears away. You allowed yourself to look up at him. Despite the lamp being on, your vision was still dark from your droopy eyelids. Through them you saw him looking down on you curiously. He wore a plain black t-shirt, accenting the muscles he didn't know he had. His hair, well it flopped around as usual. Curls stuck up all around. His cheekbones gave no mercy as they protruded gently from his face. You would miss him when you were gone...

"For what?" he asked, alarmed by your choice of words.

"You know what I'm talking about Sherlock. Please, don't make me say it again," you begged. He eyed you. A breathy "oh" escaped from his lips, and recognition settled on his face. He remembered why he hated you now. Slowly he came closer to you, and you cowered down, retreating back to your ball of safety. He pulled away your arm that covered your face, and with it, dragged the rest of your form over to his side of the bed. He faced you towards him, then settled down on the pillow next to you. Your bodies ran parallel to each other, and you closed your eyes in anxious awaiting.

"(Y/n). Whatever it was, it was just a dream." Your eyes snapped open, and you looked him straight in the eye.

"But you hated me and told me to leave and yelled at me and had my heart and tried to crush it." He gave you a look. "Oh," you said sheepishly, realizing how stupid it sounded when you said he tried to "crush" your heart. You covered your face with your hands. "I'm sorry, this keeps happening." It was now the third time that week that you had woken up in the middle of the night with bizarre nightmares that left you thinking they were true. First it was your sister, which you didn't even have a sister, died. Then it was that someone had broken into the flat and was hiding in the bathroom, and afterwards you refused to go in there unless Sherlock stood outside with the door open. And now this.

"It's okay (y/n), nothing to be ashamed about. It's possible for me to hold your heart in my hands and crush it, but I never would." He pried your hands away from your face and brought them to his chest, holding them there. You felt the beating of his heart, and you scooted closer to him. His curls tickled your forehead and you felt his steady breaths dancing on the bridge of your nose.

"Do you think you can go back to sleep?" he asked quietly. He never knew what to say when you had your nightmares - he rarely dreamed, let alone slept. Instead he would make sure to fall asleep touching some part of you - holding your hand, his elbow pressed against yours, your head tucked into his neck - something small, but protective.

"I can now," you answered happily. You felt safe, knowing he was next to you, not yelling at you or trying to crush your heart.

A/N

I'm back.

Did you miss me?

Well even if you didn't, I'm glad to be back, even if it's just for tonight. Hoping to get more updates out sooner that next weekend, but we'll see how the week goes.

Thank you for your guys' continued reads, votes, and comments! Means the earth (Get it? Like "means the world" but instead "earth" because it's like the same thing? (Okay maybe I need to sleep))

I would like to give credit to Once Upon A Time for the idea of crushing the heart. Have you guys ever watched that show? Didn't get to watch the new episode tonight, but hopefully sometime this week I will! It's so good and I highly recommend it! Seasons 1-4 are on Netflix! But I warn you, it's super addicting.

Not as much as Sherlock though.

Okay well I'm off to sleep. I really need to catch up on it.

It's funny that I wrote this one about a dream, because I had a really scary dream last night that people were outside of my house trying to get in and take me because they had done it before and like my family kept leaving all the windows open and wanting to go outside and it was like pitch black and in the woods and they would not listen to me that someone was out there trying to kill me!

Oh man I just freaked myself out again by talking about it. It was very realistic.

But I love dreams, that's why I love sleep so much. Even the scary dreams I like, gives me a rush!

Okay I'm rambling
