You bounded up the stairs of 221B happily, your newly prized possession tucked underneath your arm. You heard the chattering from outside the door, and opened it up to the flat. Bodies stood around - the usual gang. Greg was the first to notice you. He waved, then hit Sherlock's arm to alert him of your arrival. Sherlock sat in his chair: button up shirt, pleated trousers, crazy hair, and now a smirk aimed right at you. He pushed himself up from his chair and walked gracefully over to you.

"How was it?" he asked, a sparkle in his eye as he looked down at you.

"It was-" you were about to respond, but suddenly more people noticed your presence.

"(Y/n)!" called John from across the room. He walked over, and Sherlock crinkled his nose in annoyance. "Smell something bad Sherlock?" asked John, referring to his expression.

"Something like that," muttered Sherlock under his breath.

"What's this?" asked Mary, coming up from behind you and removing the book from underneath your arm.

"Hey!" you shouted. Mary gave you a teasing look, already aware of what it was and just trying to play dumb. She handed it back to you, then engulfed you in a hug.

"Congratulations (y/n)!" she chimed sweetly.

"Congratulations?" asked John, eyeing Mary and you suspiciously. At this point everyone had gathered around - Sherlock, John, Mary, Greg, Molly, Mycroft, Mrs. Hudson, and Bill. You weren't one for public announcements despite knowing everyone in the room pretty well, besides Bill, so it was no surprise when you felt your face heat up and your palms turn sweaty.

"Erm - I - well you guys know how I was writing that book?" you started, stumbling your way through the words.

"Yeah?" said everyone in unison. Sherlock caught your eye and winked.

"Well... It got published! And this is the first copy of it." Molly was the first to engulf you in a hug.

"(Y/n) that is amazing! I can't believe I'm friends with an author, a real author!"

"You're also friends with a famous consulting detective, but that's old news I guess," spat Sherlock bitterly. You gave him a knowing look, recognizing his obvious dismay towards the attention being taken away from him. Next John came, offering his excited congrats.

"A book - that's amazing!" he cheered. "Did you base one of the characters off of me?" he whispered in your ear before he released you from a hug, too embarrassed to let anyone else hear.

"Of course John," you reassured, a smile painted on your face. He grinned from ear to ear, silently pumping his fist and whispering yelling "yes!". When he turned away from you, your smile dropped and you tried to think of a character in the book that, if asked, you could tell John was based off of him. But you're thinking was interrupted.

"Oh (y/n), I am so proud of you," cooed Mrs. Hudson. She kissed you on the cheek and you felt pride swell in your heart; it was like having your mom there congratulating you. You noticed Greg step up next to her and he cleared his throat. You turned towards him, opening your arms to receive his hug. You heard a cough, and you crashed your nose into an unsuspecting object that appeared between you and Greg. You rubbed your face in pain and looked up. Your curly haired freak was standing in front of you, looking down at you with an emotionless look on his face.

"Really?" you asked, annoyed. You heard Greg huff behind Sherlock, and the only part of him you saw was the hand he stuck out to you from behind your jealous boyfriend.
