Overdue Check-Up (Poppy Playtime)

(Chapter 4) Part 19: Pursuit of The Doctor Ep. 3

Catnap and Dogday are guarding the two only paths, aside from the one they just entered from, out of the new room they find themselves in. Waiting for Dan to finish his talk with Nearic so they can progress.

"Doey has something to tell you he may have forgotten to when he last saw you," the man's brother said over the radio.

Dan walked over to the skeleton on the operating table, looking it over as he replies, "Alright, lay it on me."

Doey was quick to do so, "H-hey, uh if you... th-that is if you have the time uh, there's something else I'd like you all to watch out for."

A pause ensues, and with Doey's hesitant tone, he's probably working up the nerve, "Go on," the man says, eyeing the piece of paper tucked in the corpses arm.

Doey clears his throat, before a second later, he announces quite loudly, "The Adventures of The Word Wizaaaaaard!"

All three wince at the volume, Dan quickly pressing the red button and whispering, "Doey, we are in the middle of No Man's Land don't shout!"

"Sorry!" Doey whispers back over the radio, "It's-it's a book, an old favourite of ours."

Catnap chuffs, "Really, shouting over a book?" Dogday glares at him.

Doey continues on, "If any of you happen to find it either around Safe Haven or out there, could you bring it back to me?"

Dogday 'smiles' as he replies, "Absolutely!"

Dan nods as he adds, "We'll see what we can do, Doey. Don't worry, if that book is still around, we'll find it."

"Same here," Nearic chips in, "I'll take a look around in a bit, see if it's around here. Hopefully it is, in the meantime, I have a few more stories to tell the other toys."

Dogday and Catnap both perk up, "Stories?"

Nearic replies, "Y'know, all the shenanigans we got ourselves into while living in Playcare, before the chaos... Like the Hide 'N Seek Disaster."

Both Critters groaned at the mention of the name while Dan stood there confused, "The what now?"

Nearic chuckled, "They'll tell yaw he you have the time. Anyways, we'll let you get back to work, I have toys to entertain."

"And I've got a perimeter to check," Doey added.

Dan huffed humouredly, "Got it, talk to you soon little brother."

"See ya, Dan," and the radio cuts out.

Dan puts the radio away and grabs the document, looking it over, "Hmmm," he hums disapprovingly.

Catnap looks back, "What is it?"

Dan scowls, "This document is a reminder for how to surgically deconstruct children," he grumbles, anger clear in his voice.

Dogday shudders, "Great, something tells me it's going to be important."

Catnap steps up to the monitors in the far right corner of the room, "What does it say?"

The lawyer-in-training looked down and read the document.

Secondary Lab Instructions

Remember: Follow all diagrams and anatomical guides during reconstruction. If it helps, just sing that old song to yourself for the order of operations. The one your parents taught you thinking you weren't smart enough to delineate the parts of your body.
