"The Docotr will see you now," grumbles the voice over the intercom.
Dogday growls, "Here we go, last stop."
Catnap chuffs, "Before we had back to Safe Haven, anyway."
Dan checks his GrabPack, trying to fire or switch his right hand, only for it to click and do nothing, "Damn, smug bastard really fried this thing."
Catnap leans down and takes a closer look, "He zapped you pretty good, I'm surprised you still standing."
The man hums, "Agreed," he takes a deep breath and turns to the large yellow door locked by a scanner, "Alright everyone, keep your eyes peeled and ears sharp, we have no idea what's beyond that door."
Dogday and Catnap nod in unison, "Let's get this over with/Let's end him."
Dan takes one more deep breath before firing his left hand onto the scanner. The device on the wall whirrs to life as it analyzes the object before glowing green and unlocking the door, which quickly opens.
The trio slowly walk inside and scan the room thoroughly. It's quite barren, just a simple circular platform looping around an elevator in the center, only accessible from the other side. The empty room gives off an eery aura, making the three trespassers nervous and wary.
They slowly make their way to the center and spot large doors on the opposite wall as well, and knowing that the elevator cannot hold them all, the toys came to a conclusion, "You take the elevator, Dan. Me and Catnap will take the doors."
The lawyer-in-training turns to them, a frown on his face, "Are you sure, we have no idea what The Doctor has planned."
Catnap steps up, "We know, but we can't follow the elevator, it won't hold us," Dogday glances at him, "We'll take the doors while you get his attention. You can do this, if you need us, we'll be there. Just like Nearic would want."
Dan purses his lips, before sighing, "Alright fine," the feline spots Dogday staring at him, making the canine look away with a huff, "Just... be careful, alright? Nearic would kill me if I let you die, both of you."
Dogday chuckles, "We know, why do you think we've been so cautious."
The three chuckle at the small bout of humour, before trailing off, the weight of the room still pressing onto their shoulders, "Good luck," the canine says, the feline nodding in support.
Dan takes a deep breath as he tightens his grip on the GrabPack, "Same to you."
Dan watches ats the two toys walk away, forcing their way through a metal door, and seep into the darkness beyond it. The man's face hardens in determination before he turns around and walks onto the elevator, the mechanism closing the gate and locking him in.
"Do you hear it like I do?" The Doctor starts, "Off Somewhere. Somewhere... far."
Dan furrows his brow in confusion, the tone in the Doctor's voice seeming odd and distant. Like a man describing a dream as they look off to the sky.
"Beyond this place. Beyond any place," he continues, "A bell," his tone shifting back to normal, "For whom does it toll, you think?"
Dan scowls as the experiment continues, "A wounded little pup lifts its head beneath the shadow of the master's raised foot. For whom does the bell now toll?" he chuckles.
The elevator finally stops to a hallway filled with monitors, "We'll find out Harley Sawyer," the monitors shut off as the gate opens, "But you end... today," he growls, walking out into the hall.
"We shall see," the Doctor replies, a smirk evident in his robotic voice.
Dan continues to walk forward, a glare sharp in his gaze as he eyes every corner, every shadow, every monitor. Ensuring nothing gets the jump on him. Eventually, he gets to the other end of the hall and opens the door he reaches. Upon doing so, he sees a metal chamber in the center of the room, several wires and cables connected to it, charging and powering it, monitors surrounding it showing only static.
