"Please dear complete your breakfast. You haven't eaten a single thing.", mom said unsatisfied by Henrietta.

"Mom, I'm trying! These things are not passing through my oesophagus.", Henrietta said impatiently.

"But, you have to. Its your first day at school and you have to shine. You're not gonna do well if you are hungry and if hunger mice running inside your stomach."

Henrietta ceased talking and tried to eat. She was anxious. It was kind of a stupid step to her to go to a highschool when she was blind. Yesterday night was nothing but a sick sleepless night. She supposed that her mom's daydream was soon going to be a screaming nightmare.

She expected that her mom would be convinced by her to not to force her for school. But, for the first time, mom wasn't manipulated by her anyhow. She was rigid in her decision to send her to highschool.

Henrietta knew mom did it for her welfare but though she didn't have the courage. All these days she had known that highschool was a loadstone of bullying and mockery. And, when these were obvious for the healthy and bright students, then what was going to happen with her, she had no idea about that.

She knew that there was going to be a mean girl in the school who would stand by her feet to show down thumb to Henrietta . She didn't have no idea about how to face it either.

Henrietta was done with breakfast and got up off the chair. She searched for her bag pack and like every usual day mom gave it to her. Mom always helped her in finding things in her blind world. Mom knew her world was filled with darkness. She supposed that one day there would be something in Henrietta's life that would change her conception about being blind.

Henrietta pulled on her favorite cardigan. She inserted her black socks in a pair of classy brown shoe and proceeded towards the door with the white cane in her hand. She didn't have that black spectacles that visually impaired people used to wear. She wondered why did even they wear it. No matter how, she was never going to show her disability, neither hide it. She knew it was a hard thing to do. She never wanted to show it because she hated of getting mercy from people. She never wanted to hide it either because she wasn't ashamed a bit for it. She knew people only hid what they are ashamed of.

Mom saw her walking towards the door. She prayed for her to get a good day at school. Mom would have been so happy to see her shine. Henrietta was the one and only haven of her. She, Mrs. Meredith Arther had only this in the whole world. Henrietta was alone also. Henrietta lost her father when she was just seven years old. The person who happened to be Henrietta's father and Mrs. Meredith's husband, left them to die in the middle of the helpless and the merciless world. He was nice to Henrietta, he loved her. But, he decided to punish Meredith on the offence of giving birth to a blind child. Meredith did a sin, and that was tolerating that person for a long of seven years since Henrietta's birth.

Henrietta knew she was the playhouse of bullying. The girl had nothing but bullying and humor at own self as well as being abandoned by father. In the meantime, she blamed herself for being the reason of the sever of her parents long beloved relation.

Mom called her, "Hey, wait. Dear, may you shine."

"Mom, this is getting excess. I am not gonna shine. I am going to be bullied by each and everyone. I'm sure about that totally."

"Dear, my intuitions is saying that this is going to be alright. Believe me."

Henrietta smiled. She didn't know that mom understood she was faking the smile. It was a consolation to mom.

Henrietta got on the car when mom was locking the door. She wondered how bad it could be.

Mom got on the car.

"My baby, why are you only thinking about the pessimistic side of it? There can be something magical! There can be something like a fairytale where you are the princess. Can't it?"

"Yeah, as you're supposing me as the princess of the fairytale, let me say something, there is always very devil in every princess's life. And, it needs power to turn it in the favor of the princess."

Mom smiled, "And, you have the power."

"No. The girl who is blind can never posses power. She hadn't seen the world, nor the people of it. She is as helpless as the sea creature who lives in the deep of the ocean to whom light beam has never reached."

Mom pulled the gear and started the car. She wasn't interested in dragging the conversation more. Henrietta was getting pessimistic day by day. She was not like that before.

The school was yellow in color and had white roof. It was so large that it covered almost a part of the horizon.

They crossed the gate. There was teenagers in the basketball field playing. They were shouting, screaming , laughing. Henrietta felt that. She wanted to be a part of them, which, she knew, was never possible.

Mom described the place to her, "So, it is a cool place with a lots of nice kids like you. They are playing. The school also looks so comfortable and great to me. We are on the lon of the school which is covered with bottle green grass. Now, I think we should go to the office of Mrs. Peerson."

Henrietta didn't respond. She was nervous. Her heart was beating fast like a drum.

Mom held her hand and walked through the field to Mrs. Peersons office. The field was longer than it seemed. They entered the school building and a breeze blown through Henrietta's spine. Every sound, every noise was as she saw in her nightmares. She thought how much ominous it could be.

Mrs. Peerson was a middle aged lady with horrifying spectacles. But, Henrietta was away of being horrified by those as she couldn't see them.

But, there was more elements for Henrietta to be horrified at. Mrs. Peerson sounded like a grumpy old owl.
"So, you're Henrietta?"

"Yes, please. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too. You may start classes from today."

Henrietta was astonished how straight forwardly Mrs. Peerson ordered her to start classes. No introduction, no courtesy. Henrietta perceived that she was a disgusting person.

But, she didn't know that in the fight of survival and to protect her from being diminished and destroyed, only Mrs. Peerson would be there to cooperate her. Mrs. Peerson was going to be the only companion of her dark world in highschool. And, she couldn't imagine how devil the students would be to her.
