Mom entered with something in her hand. She kept that on Henrietta's study table. Then leaning back to the wall, she started talking to Henrietta about silly topics again.

"So, how was school?", mom asked.

"Mom, you are asking this for the third time?"

"Sorry, if you want not to tell, then don't.", mom showed a bit anger.

Henrietta got up off her bed and went towards mom by guessing her position. She hugged mom and said," Mom, you ask me the same question over and over again when you have something else to tell me but hesitate. I guess the situation is like this. So, what is it?"

"Yes, dear. Actually, well, umm.", mom paused and murmured. She was going to say something provoking to her.

"Baby, your father sent a letter for you. Shall I read it loud to you?"

Silence. Henrietta wondered how courageous and irresponsible her father was to write a letter to his 'blind' daughter whom he left eight years ago.

"No, mom. I don't want to hear something from him. He left me for no reason."

"Henrietta, he is feeling guilty. That why he wrote a letter to you. Otherwise, he would have just left an email for you, right?"

"Mom, I don't care. Didn't he feel guilty at the time when he left you and me to rot?"

"Dear, I know you are angry right now. I'm keeping the letter on your table. Read if you like."

Mom left the room. Henrietta remained standing for sometime. Then, taking the letter with love in her hands, she sat down on the bed and sighed. She opened the envelope carefully and smelt it. There was a very slim smell of something. She pushed the page near her smelling glands. There was the touch of dad, the dad who left her only for being blind.

"Mom!"

Mom didn't respond.

"Mom! Can you hear me?"

No answer.

"Mom! Would you read the letter to me please?"

Mom didn't reply either. Henrietta got frightened, she stood up and moved her hands to search for the cane. But, she couldn't. Then, being completely anxious, she walked towards the garden. Mom used to work and relax in the garden when she felt sad or disappointed.

Henrietta walked into the garden that was just in front of the main door of their residence. But, accidentally, the cloth hanger was hanging from a tree. Henrietta ran through them and being banged, she fell on the hard ground and screamed out of pain.

When she got relieved, the first thing came in her mind that it was so much unusual that mom didn't came to help her out. Mom didn't let her walk a single step without her, then how could she avoid her though she fell on the cold ground?

Henrietta got up. She heard some sobbing noise coming from the small wooden hut at the corner of the garden.

She wondered who it could be. She came closer to the house with the help of her four senses except the visual one. slowly pushed the door and entered. There was nothing but some garden accessories and watering containers.

The room was dark. But, that actually didn't matter for her anyhow. Henrietta went towards the source of the sobbing noise. It was mom. Sitting on the earthen floor leaning on the wall, a helpless woman who has been abandoned by her life mate as well as her daughter.

Mom didn't notice Henrietta. Henrietta kept her hand on mom's head. That was cold like ice.

Mom felt the touch all on a sudden. She looked up and found Henrietta. She was embarrassed.
