Chapter Twenty Eight

“Move over to the right Wormtail you’re stepping on my foot,” James hissed

“No don’t Wormtail,” Argued Sirius “You’re practically crushing me!”

“Could the three of you shut it?” said Remus “We wouldn’t want to be caught out at night, again. Remember?”

“Of course not!” Cried Sirius in mock worry “But how could we get caught if we’re under the cloak! Merlin! And I thought you were the smart one.”

The Marauders were currently heading back to Gryffindor Tower after a late night snack at the kitchens, they were of course under James’ invisibility cloak so it was pretty safe for them, and it was a squeeze though considering that they were four quite tall fifteen year old boys under one cloak.

“Nice one Padfoot,” complimented James “but like Moony said, keep it down we may be invisible but Filch has ears too you know.”

Sirius rolled his eyes as they climbed some stairs

“I knew I should’ve asked Riddle how to do that spell that makes people not hear what we’re talking about.” Sirius mumbled, James grinned

“You know what Padfoot?” said James “If I didn’t know any better… I’d say you’re getting obsessed with Riddle like I’m obsessed with Evans.”

“So you’re admitting you’re obsessed with Evans?” said Sirius

“That’s not the point,” said James

“Caput Draconis,” Remus said loudly, James and Sirius then stopped bickering as the Fat Lady stared at them awkwardly, it was when they realized they still had the cloak on

“Who’s there?” asked the Fat Lady, the Marauders then pulled the cloak off

“It’s just us.” Said James “I think Remus here has already said the password?”

The Fat Lady huffed and mumbled something about teenagers these days and such as she swung open to reveal the portrait hole leading towards the Gryffindor common room. Sirius yawned and stretched. The common room was dark, the fire in the fireplace was extinguished, and there was no light at all but the moonlight coming from the high windows,

“That cloak is getting quite small to fit the four of us at once already,” said Sirius

“Keep it down Padfoot,” said Remus “McGonagall has been checking the common room during the evenings ever since our previous excursion in which we got caught by Filch.”

“How do you know these stuff?” asked James

“I’m a Prefect,” said Remus rolling his eyes “remember?”

“Oh yes,” said James “I tend to forget you’re one. Anyways Minnie understands why we have ‘late night excursions’ remember? She knows about your furry little problem.”

“She doesn’t understand though as to why we have late night excursions to the kitchens.” Remus pointed out

“Minnie never understands us,” said Sirius as he stretched “that woman needs a hobby, we should set her up with someone or something.” James laughed

“I know right,” he said in agreement

“Shh, someone’s coming.” Said Remus, the four of them then stopped in their tracks and hid in the darkness “Quick Wormtail the cloak.”
