When Remus was first made a Prefect this made the others laugh seeing as troublemaking would be made easier than ever.
Their attitudes diminished slightly when James realised that Lily was also made a Prefect, resulting in more discrete troublemaking.
Eventually they realised that Lily was really on their side so they were back in the game.
When James and Lily were made Head Boy and Girl they were just in their element, they were invincible, undetectable and undeniably the best pranksters in all of Hogwarts history.
Sirius believed that they surely deserved a collective chocolate frog card for their achievements.
