Chapter Forty-Five: Ty

Ty paced the front hall his mind full of turmoil. It was forbidden for a man to be in with his wife as she gave birth. They said something about men just getting in the way. The midwife assured him he could come in once the baby was born. He stopped pacing and closed his eyes rubbing them. The front door opened and he looked to see Joe and Sam come in.

'We got here as fast as we could.' Sam said excited. 'Are we too late?'

'No,' Harry said. He and the others were sitting around the room watching Ty pace. 'The midwife's assistant will come out when it's done. Until than we are sitting here taking bets on how long it will take Ty to wear a hole in the floor.' Ty let out a weak chuckle, but kept his pacing.

'What happened to your hand Phil?' Joe asked worried seeing his left hand casted. Phil grinned wide.

'What can I say, that girl has a hell of a grip when she is in pain.' The big man chuckled. Joe winced in sympathy.

'Being on the receiving end of her handshake, my condolences.' Joe said. 'Broken I take it?' Phil nodded and the two men sat down. 'You know the entire village is waiting outside the doors, and most of the school is waiting in the training yard.'

'It's the birth of the next Takeda.' Ty said sounding ill. 'They all thought the line would end. This is a huge day for the clan.' He froze as an outraged wail of an infant ripped through the whole house. He looked to the door that led to their room waiting. His frown deepened the as the moments ticked by. The baby's wail had quieted a moment ago and they should have come for him by now. What if something was wrong? This was Hunter's first time after all. Anything could go wrong. The baby wailed again this time louder and far angrier. Ty could not help but to smile. His child had a hell of a set of lungs. He was sure the people in the training yard knew the heir has arrived into the world. The door opened and the midwife's assistant came out grinning wide. She went to Ty and bow keeping her eyes down.

'If it pleases you master Takeda,' she said with contained excitement. 'You are father to twins. A boy and a girl.' Ty roared in joy and picked up the girl swinging her in a circle. He set her down unable to contain his grin.

'Tell everyone the news.' He ordered the blushing girl. 'I am going to see my wife and children.' He went to the door, but stopped at the door and peeked in. Hunter was in their bed holding two bundles. She was pale and looked exhausted but her lavender eyes were full of pure joy. She smiled to him as he came in. 'Twins.' He whispered going to her bedside. He sat beside her and she moved so he could see them. Both had thick mops of red hair with golden highlights. 'They are beautiful.' He whispered. Hunter offered him the little boy and he took him cradling him in his arms with tears in his eyes. 'Hello little man. I am your daddy.' The baby yawned big and let out a little happy sigh. Ty grinned to Hunter and she returned his smile. 'Which one was screeching so loud the windows shook?' Hunter chuckled.

'That would be your son. My ears are still ringing.' She said amused then kissed her daughters hand as the child extended it toward her mother's face. 'And this little one is the heir to the Takeda clan.' Ty smiled to the little girl.

'You have much to learn little one, but don't you worry. Your momma and daddy will be with you every step of the way.' He whispered before kissing her forehead.

'Can we come in?' Megan asked. They looked to see everyone standing at the door. Hunter nodded. The group piled in and grinned seeing the two babies. Ty watched in pride as they passed from one person to another. He smiled too Hunter.

'Not too bad for two orphans huh?' he asked.

'No.' she agreed 'not too bad at all.' She replied and closed her eyeslaying her head to Ty's chest.96P
