~Faith's POV~

The boys looked around at each other with worried faces before someone finally spoke up. Bulky arms crossed over his chest, Kaden took a step forward and represented the others as the spokesmen.

"First off Blackwood isn't exactly someone we like."

"I've already gathered that, but why don't you tell me why you guys are opposing each other."

"You see... He and I are on different teams, in a way. His side verses ours."

"Sides for what?" After I had spoken I had a sudden realization and gasped. The boys looked more worried than before and I poured the thoughts out of my head, "CHRISTIAN RAY JOHNSON, ARE YOU PART OF A GANG? ARE YOU A PIMP?!"

He glanced around the room confused then shook his head rapidly. "What?! No!"

"Oh," I relaxed back and waited quietly, with my shoulders shrugged, for them to continue.

This time, it was Sterling who decided to communicate more of their secret. "Faith, remember how I made you watch that one movie... Fight club?"

"You made her watch that? That's an ironic movie choice." Kaden scoffed.

"That's not the point," he said to Kaden, flailing his arms around spastically then turning back to me. "You remember that?"
I nodded, still sort of confused. "That's what we do."

"Wait, are you saying you are all underground fighters?"

"No, no, just me." Kaden stated calmly.

"What? Then why are all of you involved?" I asked, motioning towards the rest of them.

"I'm the fight coordinator, Christian's' the manager, and Sterling is kind of like a treasurer and negotiator." Alec stated.

"Okay... So does that put you all in some sort of danger or just Kaden?"

"All of us and anyone we associate with..." He answered.

"Which is why we didn't want you to know, because just knowing puts you in more danger." Commented Sterling.

"How exactly am I in danger?"

"Blackwood." A one word answer from Kaden managed to send a chill down my spine. The way he said it was cold, and almost evil. Just the same tone as when we met with Blackwood earlier.

Alec's voice then interjected, "He's not just a fighter, Faith. He's got money and is the current reigning champion. He wants to keep it that way. And he'll do anything to do that."

"That's why he called me to come tonight. He knew you were with me and after Cornelius saw us that one night he wants you because he thinks it'll hurt me." Would it? "He not only wants you, but he wants you to hate me so maybe I'd be too distracted, too hurt, or too disrupt to continue with our fight in the spring. He knows I'm the top contender and wants rid of me and any competition."

"You're one of the top fighters? Is that why you are always beaten up?"

"Oh sweetheart, you should see them." He grinned thinking how he's left past men after a fight and I would be lying if I said I couldn't feel an unspoken tension. "but no, it's not always because of a scheduled fight. They'll randomly spring up when people are stupid enough to threaten me and what is mine in anyway. Which is also part of why I leave randomly and inconveniently; because if a meeting is called, I have to be there. None of these men are to be kept waiting."
