I kept my breathing even, as I felt a small hand move over mine.  It didn't pull away, didn't pull mine away, only stilled over it for a moment.  God I wanted to smile or furrow my eyebrows or make some sort of facial expression at this curious inquisitory.  I let her fingers explore for as long as I could, then I did the one thing that made her freeze.  I moved my thumb on her stomach in a small tender circle.  Her back was still pressed against my front and her hand froze over my wrist as it lay wrapped around her.

I wrapped my arm tighter around her, pressing her into me and forgetting all about my morning affliction.  Stacy became stiff as a corpse then quickly pushed herself away from me.  I chuckled at her response.  I had never seen her refuse or say no of any way before.  She got out of bed as naturally as possible and headed for her room, or rather I should just call it her closet.

"Stacy, have Kyle bring my breakfast to the study personally."  I called out to her shut door.  I heard her movements stop for a moment, before she suddenly rushed to get changed.  I hadn't meant it to be a reminder of what I said to her last night.  I had only wanted to try out Kyle's cooking, and this time pay attention.  If he was really good, I might have to educate him.  Just the basics of course, reading, writing, and math, maybe a little science because cooking involves cleaning and also germs and illness prevention.  He wouldn't need the extensive knowledge that I had obtained, just what would be practical for his trade.

Stacy rushed out as I was getting in the shower.  I loved messing with the girl, however unintentional this time was.  I got dressed in my usual club attire, dark wash jeans and a black v neck.  I hadn't been since Kyle had came here and needed to see how well he worked around Old Coot.  I also needed to talk to Ted and get an update on a few things.  I generally liked to get there early, so Ted could be more focused, but tonight I needed to watch Kyle, so showing up a little later would be best.

I had just arrived in the study and was booting up the computer when Kyle walked in, with Stacy right behind him, carrying a tray.  I brushed the few papers aside and made room for it.  Kyle scooted a chair close to the table and sat in front of it as Stacy took the lid off the platter.  In front of me were two plates, filled with bacon, sausage, eggs, and some kind of pancakes.

"Stacy said you wanted me to bring you breakfast, so I brought mine too.  She said it was a bad idea, but eating alone is a bad idea.  That's what I told her."

I hadn't planned on eating with Kyle, but after hearing him talk, I couldn't send him away.  I glanced over to Stacy's big pleading eyes, asking me not to crush his dreams.

"Stacy you're dismissed.  I know you have lots of work to do.  You have to be ready to go out in a few hours."

The pleading turned to shock, then her eyes fell to the floor.  "Yes Master."

I turned my attention back to Kyle, who had already started digging in.  I took a bite of egg, carefully chewing and waiting for the crunch.

"Did you make all this by yourself or did you have help?"

"I did most of it my own.  I couldn't get the pans down though.  I'm not tall enough with a chair.  But the ovens here have the knobs in the front where I can reach.  I love the ovens here.  You can turn them on and make big fire.  It burns the food though,  Sometimes I just like to watch the fire."  Kyle shoved a bite of pancake smothered in syrup in his mouth. "Guess what kind of pancake I made?  You can't take a bite until you guess."

I looked down and cut a slice out and eyed it.  It was a little browner than it should be and had what looked like blueberry in it.  "Blueberry pancakes."  I said with confidence.

Kyle laughed at me and wiggled around in his chair.  "Uh hu guess again."

My brows moved closer together as I picked at the pancake with my fork.  I picked up a small torn piece and smelled it.

"Banana blueberry?"

"You cheated!  You're not allowed to smell it."

"You never said I couldn't."  With that I popped a bigger piece in my mouth and let the flavors grow.  It was really good and I tasted a hint of cinnamon.

"You make this on your own?  No help and no recipe?"

"Yeah, Cootie taught me how to make pancakes and how to add things in.  I've never done banana before and I don't think I like it."

"Why not?  It's pretty good."

"I've made better. Plus it smokes while you cook it.  But smashing it up is fun."

I talked to Kyle while we ate and then sent him out to get Stacy for the dishes.  I decided to set Kyle up with schooling, and have him help Old Coot out part time, maybe during peak hours.  I also needed to inform Dan of anything regarding Kyle's future before I made any decisions.  It was in the contract, although I don't think she will mind him learning, it just meant she wouldn't get to see him as often.  It's a parent's price to pay to better their children.
