Chapter one

The gym was soon occupied by all the seniors as they chatter in excitement and pure joy. Everyone had been waiting for this special day. The start of the month, May.

Andrea held onto her book tightly as she tried to pass the enthusiastic students to get to the very back of the bleachers. Ever since Andrea was only in freshman, she never did like this day. She never cared for this stupid tradition that held every year. She didn't even want to participate in it but she had no choice. Every senior is required and mandatory to come.

As Andrea settled at the very back, she opened her book and started reading. She was reading the same book she read a year ago called 'To kill a mockingbird.' She must have read it multiple of times already but she never got tired of reading. After all, she was a nerd. She belonged at the very bottom of the food chain. She pushed her glasses at the bridge of her nose as she continue reading.

"Okay everyone! Please settle down!" The Principal started as she stood at the stage with a microphone in her hand. Soon, the students quiet down and you can almost hear a pin drop in the gym.

"As you all know," Principal Fiddle started but Andrea didn't pay any attention. She continued reading the book not caring about the event. "Today is a very special day for all the seniors this year. It only happens ones a year in the beginning of May. This tradition has been happening for over fifteen years now. That means, fifteen students had felt what it's like to be... the 'lucky student.'"

"Each year, we held this tradition to pick from these boxes on who the 'lucky student' will be, and of course, the 'slave.' This tradition is very easy. Each of your names is on these boxes, one name in the 'lucky' box and another in the 'slave' box." Principal Fiddle explained lifting the 'lucky' box then the 'slave' one.

"The person who gets pick to be the 'lucky student' this year will get free lunch for the whole month of May, no homework, allowed to skip two of your classes, and of course, gets your own slave. The 'lucky student' can do whatever they may wish to do. There will still be limits but I will be watching you."

"Unfortunately, this tradition wouldn't be fun and completed if there's no 'slave.'" She said as everyone cheered and howled. Andrea couldn't help but roll her eyes by her immature classmates. "Anyway, if you got pick to be the 'slave,' you will be serving your master which is the 'lucky student.' Your task is to do whatever they ask you to do. You can't complain and you have no saying at all. If ever the 'slave' did not do their jobs, the master may wish to punish them." She said dramatically as everyone let out an 'ooh' sound.

Andrea couldn't help but get furious. This is so unfair! How can the 'lucky student' do whatever they may wish to do but the other students cannot?! Why can the 'master' punish their 'slave' if ever they didn't to their job?! It was just all stupid and idiotic. Whoever started this tradition is totally illiterate.

"Since everyone seems to know what's going to happen. Let's start!" Principal Fiddle announced as the whole senior class shouted, cheered and whistled. "Let's choose from the 'lucky' box first. Let's see who's going to be the 'lucky student' of this year in Richmond High! Finger cross everyone, you would want to be this person." She said as she dig her right hand from the 'lucky' box and withdrew it back with a folded piece of paper in her hand.

"And the 'lucky student' is.... Drumroll please." She demanded as the drums started to boom. When the drums stopped Principal Fiddle announces the winner. "Ryder Collins!" She exclaimed excitedly. Everybody started cheering and shouting making comments here and there congratulating him.

His friend tapped him on the back cheering him on. "Yeah, go Ryder!" They chirped as Ryder made his way to the stage. Of course, he was wearing his outfit as the bad boy of the school. Gotta keep that reputation. He was wearing a black leather jacket with a white v-neck shirt under it. He was also wearing dark blue jeans with his black combat boots. If that outfit didn't say 'bad boy' nobody knows what will.

"Congratulation Mr. Collins." Principal Fiddle said shaking his hand. He smirked at her as he turned his attention to the crowd.

"Now, let's move on and pick our 'slave' for this year." She said as she put her hand in the 'slave' box shuffling the paper. "And the 'slave' of Mr. Collins will be... Drumroll please..." The drum boomed and Andrea couldn't help but get anxious. Even though she knew she wouldn't get pick, she still felt bad for the person who will be serving Ryder. It was bad enough you go to the same school as him, you don't want to be anywhere near him. 'I mean, what are the chances,' she thought inside her head. 'Like one out of a hundred. Yeah, it's impossible it would be me.'

"Andrea Carson!" Principal Fiddle declared as the students remained dead silence. 'I feel so bad for that girl.' Andrea thought. 'She must be crying right now.' "Andrea Carson?" Principal Fiddle repeated and suddenly Andrea froze in her seat.

'Did she just say... Andrea Carson?!!! Oh boy!' Andrea panicked. She seemed to be stuck in her seat as she tried to wrap it around her head. A whole month of being Ryder Collins slave?! A slave of the bad boy?! Andrea panted for air when the words registered in her head.

"Andrea Carson? Are you here?" Principal Fiddle asked once again as the students looked around for Andrea. "She's right there." Somebody shouted pointing directly at Andrea. Everyone turned their attention at her as she bowed her head and started walking towards the stage with all her power.

The students started murmuring bewilderment written all over their faces. "Who is she?" One of the cheerleader whispered. "Never heard of her before." Another person said. "She is so dead to Ryder!" A guy commented.

Andrea made her way to the stage as Principal Fiddle congratulated her. "Congratulation Ms. Carson. You are going to be the 'slave' of Mr. Collins right here." She announced gesturing to Ryder.

She looked up into his grey pierced eyes as he stared at her own. A smirk formed into his lips, mischievous written all over it. Andrea gulped loudly looking away turning her eyes on the ground instead.

"Well there you have it folks. The 'lucky student' Ryder Collins and his 'slave' Andrea Carson." Everyone clapped and cheered as Andrea fidgeted feeling like crying. She never wanted to be the centre of attention. She didn't even talk to anyone in the school except for her teachers. Other than that, she never had any friends because she would rather go to the library to eat her lunch and hides behind her books.

'Why me?! Why me?!' She chatted in her head wanting to smack her head on the wall. "That consist the whole assembly. You may now go back to your expected classes and have a wonderful day Richmond High!" Principal Fiddle dismissed as the students rushed to their feet to get back to class.

"This just got a whole lot fun." Ryder muttered beside Andrea smirking mischievously.
