I had done this similar effect for my now unpublished story Wonderwall, but someone had asked me how I did it so here it is! The book part of it is a little different, but it still works (:

Superimpose

i. Open a plain white image as the background and the PNG below as the foreground. Place it as desired on the cover and then merge the two photos.

ii. Open the photo you'd like to use as the foreground and move it over the picture frame. Go to Transform and set it on darken (or another overlay that works best for you) and use the brush to get rid of areas over the photo frame that aren't supposed to be there. Merge again.

iii. If you want a colored background rather than a white one, upload the color as the foreground and move it to where it covers the whole cover. Set it on an overlay mode under the transform tab that looks best to you (find one that shows more in the background than the book PNG). I used multiply below, but it just depends on what works for your cover. Brush away areas on the cover and then save the image.

iv. To get the "quote" on the cover, you can just go into Phonto and add that in there. If you don't know how to tilt the font, images below show you how. Literally; you just press tilt and then drag your finger across the bar. It's that simple.

Pics Art

i. Open a plain white image that is cropped as 2:3 in Pics art. Go to "Add Photo" and open the PNG of the book above. Save that and then go to "Add Photo" once again and add your desired photo that will be going inside of the frame.

ii. Place it over the frame and then brush away unwanted areas on the frame part (I put mine on the overlay mode darken so it was easier for me to see). Save that. If you'd like a colored background like I said above in Superimpose, it's the same exact process. Add the color, put it on an overlay mode, and then brush away unwanted areas. That's it!

I wish it didn't take me so long to make these tutorials

I wish it didn't take me so long to make these tutorials. Before it only took me like 3 minutes to whip one of these up, but now it's like 20 minutes it seems. It's because I have to do the screenshots and the Pics Art tutorial as well, but that's okay. I'd rather help you guys more than rush to get things posted.

Might be another post tonight, but no promises. Don't forget to ask questions if needed!

(But if you ask me what the font is, I will murder you. It's the same one I've been using for the past like 20 chapters; which CODE Bold)
