I was just experimenting around and created this mess??
Superimpose
i. Open a plain color image as the background and your ripped page template below as the foreground.

ii. Size it to where it fills the whole cover. Go to the transform tab and select screen. You can either make this another color, or you can do what I do, which is just turn the opacity down. This makes the ripped page part lighter.

iii. Merge and then add your PNG/edit in the bottom panel and then add your title. Simple enough, right?
Same thing goes for Pics Art; I would make a tutorial, but it's legit the same instructions as above. Same overlay modes and everything. You'll be fine if you've read past Pics Art tutorials in this book.
