CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

Adrian laid on his bed with a comic book that he had stolen from Mg in his hands. It was one of those old Fantastic Four comics from the '80s. Reading, he found himself much like Johnny Storm. No, not a handsome nutball on fire but it was something else, it was something he couldn't describe.

The door to the dorm opened but it wasn't anything that gained the boy's attention enough to get him to put back the comic. He just thought it was Owen until he felt the bed dip when the person sat down beside him and rested their head on his shoulder. The faint smell of strawberry shampoo was enough for him to know that it was his girlfriend and the fact that no one else would lay down beside him like that, sure, he was close to his friends but not that close.

Hope laid silently beside the male, this was the first time she'd seen him after what happened when the school faculty and the students were informed of Landon Kirby and his actions. Alaric had told everyone to be on the lookout because now that an outsider knew about them and their school, they could be in grave danger. The Mikaelson girl decided that she was determined to find the boy and used black magic to do so which earned her a trip to the guidance counselor where Emma scolded her for her use of dark magic but the spell had shown results. In fact, the tribrid and her headmaster had found Landon's latest location and gone there only to discover a bus burned to a crisp full with charred corpses which led them to where they were today, they were going off to find Landon and they were leaving right before noon.

"I was just coming to ask you something before we left. I would feel better about this if I wasn't the only one looking for Landon and the truth. Alaric wants to bring him back to compel him but I— uh, you're coming with us, right?" Hope asked.

The boyfriend closed the comic book and placed it on the bedside table beside him, "I can't" He answered, "Penelope's got Owen and I tagging along to that flag football game today"

The Mikaelson witch sat up to face the male, separating herself from his side, "So, what, if Penelope told you to jump you'd ask how high?"

Adrian chuckled at the sudden irritation that came with his girlfriend's words but when he saw the expression on her face, he knew that she was being serious, "What's with you and your sudden hatred for Penelope?"

The tribrid crossed her arms a worried yet angry look spreading across her face, "I don't know, did you or did you not shove your tongue down her throat while the rest of us were at the assembly this morning?"

"No" The male answered simply, "I did not"

"You've been disappearing from class and from the assemblies. And every time you return, you return with Penelope. You can't blame me for thinking—" Hope cut herself off, frowning in disapproval when the words registered in her head. A frustrated groan escaped her lips and she ran her hands through her hair, "I— I think Lizzie Saltzman is getting to me, she's using these weird psychological methods on me"
