CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT

The Saltzman twins' sixteenth birthday party was underway in the grand hall. They had a DJ in a booth mixing hip-hop and old-school Motown as the guests danced on the dancefloor, drank punch and laughed but most importantly: the fact that no one was there to ruin their day.

"I really wanna kiss you" Adrian announced as he approached his girlfriend with two cups of red fruity punch that the witches had brewed, wearing a black suit and tie, "But after spending hours in your room waiting for you to finish getting dressed, doing your hair, and your makeup, I'm not taking any chances"

The girl pouted as she accepted the drink, "I don't know if that's nice of you or just mean"

The brunet gazed at the tribrid as she sipped the red liquid whilst watching the teenagers on the dancefloor, "Have I told you that look beautiful?"

Hope smiled, "You don't look too bad yourself"

The Motown-old school hip hop mixture suddenly crossfaded into a much slower song and the students around in the grand hall began to search for a partner to dance with. Hope set her drink down on the table in front of her and looked at her boyfriend, "You been practicing your slow dance?"

"Nope" The male answered, looking around in search for his other friends, "I was thinking of winging it by spinning you around and stepping on your toes once or twice times taking a break for the rest of the night"

The tribrid huffed as she took a seat at the table, the skirt of her dress twirling, "You're such a nice and charming boyfriend"

"Don't you forget it, babe" The alpha winked as he took a seat beside the girl.

The auburnette rolled her eyes, "Dork"

The two sat in silence, watching their fellow Salvatore pupils slow dance to the music on the crowded dance floor. The girl wanted to go up and dance, she was strongly considering doing it without her boyfriend since he didn't seem keen on dancing, "I think the reason you don't want to dance is that you're scared. You don't want anyone to see that you can't dance" Hope teased.

The Aquilo boy faced the she-wolf, "Oh really?" The female hummed in response, a smile on her face clear that she found it amusing. The male glanced over at the crowded dance floor with a sigh before reaching out for her hand, "Do you want to dance?"

"Oh my god, did the Adrian Aquilo just ask me to dance with him?" The tribrid faked, raising her voice an octave, "Gosh, I thought it would never happen. I'm shocked. My heart is like beating out of my chest. I think in gonna have a heart attack, I can't believe it. You just asked me— out of all the girls in the school you picked me"

"Alright, alright" The alpha laughed, "I get it"

Hope and her boyfriend were still sat at their table in the Grand Hall, munching on chips and drinking punch. The students in the hall were interacting with each other, dancing or eating, only a few of them had left the hall to engage in more personal activities.
