Chapter 4 Part 2

Later that night, in the mansion's living room, there was an old man carrying an expensive-looking wine. As he poured the wine in his glass, he sat down on a sofa while thinking about his future plans.

The old man, after taking a sip in his glass of wine, was stroking his long beard while thinking something.

It seems like all that happened in this mansion is benefitting my plans for that boy. I didn't think Haley-chan will be quite useful for me. Luck is really on my side...

He then noticed a knocking sound in a door before it opened, with the old man expecting his young guest.

It was Haley Ambrosia herself.

"Grandpa, I didn't know you'll spend the night here."

"Haley-chan, about the training that I'll give you..."

"I told you Grandpa. I'm not interested anymore in becoming like you."

"But..."

"I heard that Aki-chan is on top of her class and being regarded as a prodigy. You should focus on her instead."

"You know, Haley-chan. You're just wasting your potential. Who cares about that science stuff? Although we don't like it, but this world is being governed by the strong. You need to train more!"

"You seriously telling me that after you consider exploring Cyber Abyss?"

"Searching what this world is made up is essential for humanity's certain survival."

"That is science you old fool!"

The old man laughed, scratching the back of his head. However, it didn't stop him in their conversation about the Cyber Abyss.

"Haley-chan, do you know the rumors about the Cyber Abyss?"

"About the wish it grants to whoever reaches its end?"

"Hahahaha! Is that want the young ones believed these days?"

"All I know about it is that the Cyber Abyss surrounds the Natural Earth, giving the world new territories to explore. It's pretty much why the world is full of the unknown, isolated lands that no humans had ever explored, right?"

"You seem to be well informed."

"Well, there are a lot of books about it."

Haley poured a bottle of juice in her glass with a straw and sipped from it.

"You know, my master went on a journey in the Cyber Abyss once... Did you know what he discovered?"

"All I know is that you're master is the strongest in his time, right?"

"Yeah. No one in this world can probably match his power and resolve." The old man sighed. "Those old days... My youth is full of dangerous but exciting adventures. It really saddened me when I reminisced those old days."

The old man drank again from his glass of wine, consuming the entire wine in the glass.

"Haley-chan, I'm only telling you this because I know that you'll eventually learn its secrets. My master once told me that the Cyber Abyss have a... limitless power."

"Limitless power? What do you mean by that?"

"I know, I know. It's impossible for you scientists to believe that kind of theory."

"Yeah, that seems to be impossible. Cyber Abyss is just a word old people used to identify the entity they believed that cause the Great Change. I think no material in this world had an infinite energy."

"But I'll be only saying this to you once, Haley-chan..." The old man suddenly displayed a serious smile. "...I'll rather die now right here than doubting my master myself."

"!"

The old man was smiling while looking at the young lady. His smile could confirm that he was serious on what he was talking about.

"During his journey he discovered that the Cyber Abyss continue to expand our planet even to these days."

"Even to these days?! But it's already been 500 years since the Cyber Abyss was created!"

"It's funny, eh? Hahaha! It's like there's an active god somewhere in this world, continuing to revise and update his creations, much like the so called gamemasters in video games. That's why my companions and I want to go to the end of this so called Cyber Abyss. We want to see what our master saw in his eyes before we die. Hahaha!"

However, the old man's laugh suddenly vanished as he remembered something important.

"By the way Haley-chan, I went to a casino a while ago and you see..."

Without even finishing his words, the old bearded man suddenly began to sweat. He suddenly trembled unexpectedly.

"See what?"

"Ahm... Never mind! Hahahaha!"

Haley thought something suspicious was going on. The strange behavior of her grandfather made her think he was hiding something from her.

"What is it?" Haley asked with fierce eyes.

"Ah... No... That's not that important. Hahahaha!"

"Spill it out, Grandpa!"

"I know! I'm not sleeping here tonight, Haley-chan! Goodbye!"

It took a blink of an eye for the old man to vanish in front of Haley Ambrosia. He left the room without leaving any trace.

Even though, Haley was not surprise at all. She knew that her old man was capable of that level of ability.

But she became furious about their unfinished chat.

"I really have a bad feeling about this."

After the Great Change happened in the 21st century, some explorers believed that the Earth began to expand and continued on this day.

As those explorers didn't have the proper equipment to justify their claims as all the countries fell apart just after the Great Change, the only evidence about the Earth Expanding Theory was the Cyber Abyss, a term some people used to call the lands and oceans that was created surrounding the Natural Earth (term used to call the area that is still present after the Great Change).
