Chapter 19

Your POV

You sit in a cell. It's been weeks, months maybe. No one has come to visit you. Typical. Your trial is scheduled for today. In fact you can hear the tapping of feet coming to you now to collect you.

"Ready as ever?" the officer asks. You just nod and turn so he can cuff you. You make your way to the car and sit in the stiff back seat wishing that this would go fast.

Thankfully, you arrive quickly to the courthouse and manage to get by the press. Security guards help but not much. You felt...nothing. That's it. Nothing. After all, how can you feel remorse for a man that just abused you?

You sit down in a massive court room in a chair next to your lawyer. You disregard them hoping they just give up on you. You deserve to be put in jail.

Seconds, minutes, hours passed until they asked you to...demonstrate your powers. You simply lit your hand and fizzed it out. You would do no more. The boring hums of voices blurred as you sat waiting your judgement. After what seemed like forever they did something they would not do.

"F/n. Could you please take the stand. We need some questions answered." someone, you are not sure who, asked you. Standing you moved and sat in the small space waiting for the questions.

"So, F/n, how would you describe your father?" your lawyer asked. You struggled for your voice but managed to croak, "When do you mean..? After or before it all went to sh*t?" the judge sent you a scolding look that probably meant to not swear.

"After if you would." she replied. You chuckled. "Well. He killed my mother. He tried to beat me and rape me. But my mom took it for me. Until he killed her. Don't know how he disposed of the body. He just DID. Then. He started on me. I could only get away when I got calls saying he needed bailed for drunk bar fights. But when i turned 14 two years ago. It was a little over 2 months after my birthday that he...he tried to rape for the first time. I managed to get away with little fight or flight skills I had. The kitchen door was locked and it was the closest door I could find at the time. I found a knife on the counter and before I knew it it was GLOWING. It was glowing S/f/c and my hand was glowing F/c and I was scared. I didn't know what I was doing. But I killed him.  I KILLED HIM. And I am proud because he tried to hurt me. And I got rid of a bad soul on this doomed planet." You breathed. That was a mouthful.

You saw everyone staring holes into you. You just stood up and sat back at your table in front of the judge. You didn't care what happened to you. You just wanted out of here.

Yet it dragged on. The judge called a recess and you felt a tap on your shoulder as you tried to leave. Turning you saw the familiar heads of orange and brick red hair. It was Lucinda and Misty. They looked at you with eyes filled with pity and caring. "We were worried." Lucinda said both of them pulling you into a hug.

You just sighed and shrugged them off. "They wouldn't tell us where you were. They wouldn't let us visit you." Misty said looking almost on the verge of tears. You smirked a bit at that someone cared enough to see you. Even if it isn't much. It's enough.

"But I think you should see everyone else too F/n." Misty said pointing behind you. You whipped around to see everyone there. Garroth, Vylad, Travis, Aphmau, Alexis, Dante, Kawaii~Chan, Aaron, Laurence, Jewelianna, Liala, Polly and...Zane. Your eyes locked with Zane's...eye. You ran over to him and he embraced you.

You felt tears slowly trailing down your face. " Zane...I'm sorry." you said muffled and you dug your head into his neck, wrists still bound by the cuffs limiting your movement. " There's no need to be sorry. Heh. We say sorry to each other a lot don't we?" he says. You could feel his smile and he patted your hair. You stepped away as the recess was coming to a close.

"It was great to see you all again. But I am awaiting my fate. Go enjoy your lives. You don't need to waste it on seeing me being sent to prison." You said trying to smile but looking more forced by the second. You saw them all refuse one by one and sit in the back. This made you feel...warm...inside.

~~~~~~~~Time skip to when judge makes decsion~~~~~~~~

"I have made some careful considerations in this...so with full confidence I rule this girl..." the male judge took a dramatic pause and then spoke.

"Not guilty. She was protecting in self-defense. She will however, be doing community service for 3 years." he said leaving.

This took a bit to process. Not...?  Guilty..? You just sat there until one of your friends snapped you out of it. You looked up and they all were smiling as you were being led back to the station to collect your things.

With your hands free you hugged each and every one of them delaying and irritating the officer. You found that Garroth and Aphmau had started dating. I saw that coming. Laurence...he seemed jealous of Garroth. But you felt as though he would find someone.

Aaron and Jewelianna, well lets just say they blush around each other a lot and you could not wait for them to get together. You finally sat in the car and drove away.

To your new life. Not being dragged around in the mud and dirt by your past for once. 

For once you felt like a weight was lifted off your chest.

You could finally breath.
