Chapter Nineteen - Fair Game
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition."
-Steve Jobs

"Since tomorrow you girls are going away for championships, we are going to the fair!" Chris exclaims excitedly. I think the last time I went to the fair, I was twelve and I ended up being doused in water by Ricky. I really do not enjoy fairs at all. Too many people, overpriced things, rigged games and annoying screaming children.
"Who's great idea was this?" I groan.
"Mine, thank you very much," Chris says as he sends a glare at me.
"Well, I think that's a great idea babe," Bethany says snuggling up to him on the couch. "I'm in."
"Sure why not."
"Let's go!"
"What are we waiting for?"
"Hell to the no. I'm out," I say throwing my hands in the air.
...
Why am I so naive? Oh yeah, it's me. Maybe that's why I'm currently sitting in a car with the gang driving to the local fair that only opens at the end of winter. It is February and the cold weather has warmed up slightly. It doesn't snow here which is kind of a bummer but that doesn't mean it isn't cold as fuck. I swear, we have invisible blizzards; cold as May's heart with extremely strong winds.
Speaking of May, she's doing... well. She's still a bitch but less of a bitch. Make sense? Yeah, me neither. She's six months along and just as moody as ever. Surprisingly, Benny and May have become a thing. I know Benny wants it but does May want it? This whole this is annoying and complicated.
Another thing that is annoying and complicated is Blake. I still can't stand that girl. She is like an eviler, smarter and bitchier version of May. Graham High School does not need two Mays. Plus she's trying to hit on Lucas every time she sees him. Coincidentally, she's in every single one of his classes. I'm only in his AP Calculus and English but all of them? That's a giant coincident. There's also a weird vibe she has other than her usual evilness. I'll figure it out later.
I can't stand how she pays attention to Lucas all the time. I don't believe in social stereotypes but why would a popular bitch like Blake want some nerdy and secretly attractive guy like Lucas. Makes no sense. Maybe I'm a little jealous but I can't help it if Lucas and I's eyes catch each other, making me think we still might have hope.
Every time time I look into his hazel eyes, all I see is stress and sadness. No doubt he might be feeling all of these. Sometimes during class, he just runs out of class, with his hands clutching his head without getting in trouble with the teacher. It's weird. I thought I saw him once behind the dumpsters with Thomas smoking a joint. Nah, I must have been delusional.
He has touched up his roots since the last time I noticed they've grown out but it's starting to grow out again. I hope he's doing fine. I should really build up the courage to talk to him.
"Oh my burritos! We are here!" Chris yells while he waves his hands in the air. He gets out of the car then runs to the ticket booth like a kid that just ate a bucket full of candy. That's Chris for you.
We follow him in a less energetic manner, getting tickets then going on the first ride Chris saw. It had to be one with giant claws and six loops. I'm also concerned by the fact it's called 'Defying the Deathly Hallows'. I'm guessing this isn't a My Little Pony ride. If only there was.
