As a child you'd hide beneath the covers,
Scared of what was in the dark,
What you didn't know was where the true
Fear was, in your very heart.

You'd complain of ghouls and ghosts
Hiding in the shadows,
Their eyes staring soullessly at the life,
That lives on and grows.

But there was a reason they stayed with you,
All those years all those nights,
They needed your fear, vulnerability,
You're ease to fright.

There is a gateway close to the living,
Where death hangs hopeful,
To get a second chance in life,
To have a second call.

The ghosts stay close,
Life a source of power,
Hanging on to the verge of life,
Until the final hour.
