Maddie's POV

While everyone else slept, I sat beside the river next to our mini campsite. Where were we anyway? I think it's already been 2 weeks.

"What you up to?" a voice asked behind me. I turned around to find blue eyes glinting in the moonlight. Who else would this be?

"Nothing, Nick..." I mumbled, facing the water again. So far, everyone had powers, I know I have one, except I haven't used it yet. Well, maybe once, but I just don't know how to trigger it.

"Sure? There's some leftover chocolate in the supplies tent," he offered.

"I'm good, thanks," I answered timidly.

"Suit yourself..." he said in a sing-song voice, as if he was actually trying to tempt me. He gave me one last look before starting to walk back to the tent.

"Nick, wait... yeah, can I have a Hersheys bar? Cookies and cream please," I smiled innocently.

"Anything you want," he smiled, then walked away to find me my chocolate.

"Loverboy being your servant now?" suddenly Juliette was beside me. She's taking advantage of this whole vampire abilities and powers thing.

"I heard that, Juliette!" Nick shouted from the supplies tent.

"Jewls, can we not talk about this now?" I groaned. Come on, Nick was still right there. Sure, I know he likes me... but wouldn't it be... awkward?

"Sure, I'll just go back to sleep so you can mope around some more, okay?" she gave me a knowing look.

"Shut up..." I told her. Good thing it was night time, otherwise my blushing would be obvious. I looked back, to find she wasn't there. Vampire abilities...

"Here, would this help?" Nick appeared by my side with a chocolate bar.

"Yeah, thanks."

I munched on the chocolate bar while staring at the water.

"What are you thinking about?" he asked, taking a seat beside me.

"I don't know how to trigger my power..." I admitted.

"Well... I know you froze time some time ago, I could tell because when it un-froze, my limbs hurt," he nervously laughed.

"How do I trigger it?" I asked him, and his blue eyes stared into my eyes.

"Have you tried moving around?"

uhhh I don't know why?"

"Nevermind."

There was a moment of silence, I don't know if he was thinking or avoiding being awkward.

This is... awkward. I thought. Maybe I'll just pretend to think, so it wouldn't be quite as awkward.
