"Who are you?" One of the Sound Village Ninja demanded.

"I'm the handsome devil of the Leaf Village, Rock Lee."

I glanced at Sakura. She seemed just as surprised and confused as I was.

Why would he be protecting us? We're on a different team than he is–and we met him only a day ago. I'm very thankful, though...and I should help him.

Everything stood still for a minute, until Sakura finally decided to speak.

"What–what are you doing here, Lee?" She asked.

"I will always appear, anytime and anywhere that you are in trouble, Sakura. You as well, (Name)." He answered, smiling profoundly.

My gaze softened. "But, on this test, you're our enemy."

"I already told you! I will protect both of you until I die." He responded with no hesitation.

"Yes." Sakura said. "Thank you, Rock Lee."

The Sound Village Ninja took out an Earth Scroll. I stood up slowly, ready to help need it be necessary.

"It looks like I have no choice. Zaku, I'll let you have Sasuke and (Name). I'll take care of the other two." The Sound Village Ninja then turned to us. "The guy with the bushy eyebrows is pretty good at taijutsu. It looks like I get to have some fun."

I raised my right hand to touch my left arm, and examined the markings, thinking of a jutsu to use that wouldn't take too much chakra from me.

I hadn't slept, so I had less chakra than I had started out with. I was in a no-win situation here.

And plus, I had these strange marks; I had no idea what they did or what they were for.

I started paying attention to what was going on once again, instead of my arm.

"That is a frightening jutsu." The Sound Ninja was saying, picking up himself out of the ground. "It nearly took me out even though I landed on this soft dirt. Now, it's my turn."

He ran for Lee, and swung his arm at him. Lee dodged his attack, but much like before, it still affected him.

I finally understood how the jutsu worked.

"Your jutsu is indeed fast," he started, "but ours is even faster, because—"

"It travels at the speed of sound." I concluded aloud.

"Effort by itself does nothing." He continued. "Now watch, we're going to show you something called the wall. Oh, I forgot to mention this little gadget I wear. You might be able to dodge my blows, but you can't get away from it. I don't need to strike you with my fists. I can hit you with the power of sound. What makes it possible for the ear to hear things? What is sound, really?"

"Vibrations." I answered.

"Give the little lady a prize. I'm starting to see what Mieko sees in you–your mind. You're sharp."

"I'm not finished." I said, glaring at him. "The vibrations of molecules in the air creates a sound wave. These vibrations are collected by the ear, then directed to your eardrum.
