Clones appeared all over in front of us. I stood, stiff, wondering what I could do.
"Shadow clones?" I asked, turning to Sasuke.
"No, those are real clones." He answered, and then addressed Naruto. "Don't waste your strength, bone head. Let them make the first move."
"If these are clones, then the real ones are in there with them." Naruto concluded. "All I've gotta do is smash my way through until I find the ones that squeal!"
"No! Don't be an idiot. Listen to me!" Sasuke yelled.
"Let me handle this, will you? Just stay out of it." He charged at the clones and started to attack them, one by one. When he would hit one, his fist or kunai, whatever he would be using, would go right through them.
I felt Sasuke stiffen beside me, as Kabuto left to help Naruto. I looked at him to see him in pain, and quickly tried to figure out what was wrong without letting him know I had seen it.
"Could it be that they're all fake," Sakura asked, "or could it be genjutsu again?"
Sasuke hesitated to answer as he used his Sharingan. It seemed difficult for him to even use it for a few seconds, let alone this much, lately.
"Stop." I said, grasping his hand in mine. "It's too much for you."
This caused him to stop and look at me for a minute. He accepted my hand, but he didn't do as I said.
He looked around for a few seconds, and fell to his knees in pain. I saw the curse mark he had start to glow and spread a bit.
He let go of my hand and held at his shoulder, as if it was hurting him. I dropped down beside him as Sakura ran over and did the same.
"Sasuke, please, stop using your Sharingan." I said, talking so hurriedly that I was stumbling over my words.
I placed my hand over his, which he had on his shoulder.
"(Name)!" Sakura said suddenly. When I looked up at her, she was staring at my arm. The ring-like mark around my hand, my own curse mark, was glowing and had gotten progressively thicker. It was spreading slowly.
Sasuke looked from my hand back at the fight going on. "Forget it, Naruto!"
Said person looked back from his place questioningly.
"You could swing at those guys all day. You're just wasting your time on them!" Sasuke continued. "The real ones–aren't there."
"What are you talking about? That last attack didn't come from any clone. Of course the real ones are here, they've gotta be here! If they're not, then where the heck are they?" Naruto said angrily.
I mused on it for a few seconds. "Use your head. If he knew the answer to that, then we wouldn't be in this fix!"
My curse mark stopped glowing momentarily.
The Rain Village men came out of the ground and attacked Kabuto, knocking him out. Naruto took this as an advantage, and punched one of them. In the same fashion as earlier, all three of them went in one punch.
